Eddie Dean Persinger

Eddie Dean Persinger, 60, of Crab Orchard, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, following a long illness.

Born June 1, 1952, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Homer “Pee Wee” and Raphael Rice Persinger.

Dean was a coal miner retiring from Patriot Coal. He was a member of Cross Point Church of God and the UMWA. Dean loved horseback riding, golf, WVU Mountaineer and Pittsburgh Steeler football and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Dallas, Homer, Bobby, Freddie and Tommy Persinger.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Hartley Persinger; daughter, Lisa Meadows and husband Steve of Glen Morgan; son, Eddie Persinger and wife Melissa of MacArthur; grandchildren, Tristan Meadows, Brianna, Caleb, MaKayla and Logan Persinger; brothers, Jackie Persinger and wife Donna of Culpeper, VA, Charlie Persinger and wife Ann of AZ, Paul Persinger of VA; sisters, Judy O’Meara and husband Paul of Manassas, VA, Sherry Gray and husband Arnold of Beckley; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012, at Cross Point Church of God with Pastor Vondie L. Cook II officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cross Point Church of God Building Fund, 110 Crescent Road, Beckley, WV 25801.

Thelma Shawver, 74, of Beckley, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.

Arrangements are pending completion at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, 1901 S. Kanawha St., Beckley.

STEPHENSON — Dale Andrew Thomas, 52, of Stephenson passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.
