Diana Ann Murphy

FAYETTEVILLE — Diana Ann Murphy, 56, of Fayetteville, danced her way to heaven on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House, following a brave battle with cancer.

Born August 25, 1956 at Chillicothe, Ohio, the daughter of the late Teddy Erskine and Eleanor (Davis) Erskine.

Diana was full of “life and love” to all of those around her. In all things, she demonstrated determination, strength, and was admired by many. She was everyone’s Mammaw. Diana and Mammaw will be sorely missed. Heaven just became sweeter to many.

Diana recently retired as a District Claims Manager with the West Virginia Insurance Commission, where she dedicated 15 years of service. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Fayetteville W.Va. Diana enjoyed dancing with her friends at the Beckley Moose Lodge where she was also a member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Teddy and Eleanor Erskine, as well as nephew Merle Erskine.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Tracy Murphy of Charlotte NC, Stacey Brown of Oak Hill, Lee Ann and her husband Steve Elkins of Oak Hill and Chassity Young of Fayetteville W.Va. Her beloved and precious grandchildren Randy Murphy of Charlotte NC, Kyle and Kayla Hobbs of Fayetteville W.Va., Jessica Brown of Oak Hill, and Jackson Young of Fayetteville W.Va.

She is also survived by five brothers Teddy Erskine, Terry Erskine, Tommy Erskine, Timmy Erskine, and Tobby Erskine, and one sister Kathy Erskine.

Diana will be missed by those near and dear to her heart. The family would like to thank those who helped with her care during this courageous battle -- her sister-in-law Kathy Murphy, her special niece Shannet Bair, brother-in-law Timmy Murphy, David and Jordon Horrocks, Carla and Averee’ (Stinky) Torres, David Mookie, Bo and Mike Cox, Mike and Kim Bone, her best friends Don and Linda Price and Patty Woods.
