Grover David Powers
NEW RICHMOND — Grover David Powers, 67, of New Richmond, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at his residence following a short illness.
Born Nov. 15, 1944, in Johnson County, Ky., he was the son of the late Orville and Annie Reed Powers.
Grover was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing grass, his grandchildren, trading guns and being with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty; a brother, Gilbert Powers; and an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Farley Powers; two sons, Keith Powers and his wife, Tiffiny, of Clear Fork and David Powers and his wife, Jackie, of Indian Creek; a daughter, Christy Thomas and her husband, Billy, of New Richmond; four brothers, Vernon Powers, Isaac Powers, Larry Powers and Hubert Powers, all of Kentucky; three sisters, Mary Belle Collins of Kentucky, Vinnie Schwartz of Sandusky, Ohio and Clovus Powers of Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Dalton, Hunter, Munch, Cole and Mackenzie Powers, and Sydnie and Alex Thomas; a special cousin, Jimmy Powers of Kentucky; and a very special friend, Pam Snuffer of New Richmond.
A celebration of Grover’s life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with Pastor Shane Powers officiating. Burial will follow in Cline Family Cemetery, Sun Hill. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Grover’s name to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.
