 Sugar Dickens Painter

Sugar Dickens Painter, 57, of Dorothy, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 15th, 2012 following a long illness at CAMC General Division.

She was born on February 2nd, 1955 to the late Georgia and Reed Dickens of Naoma.

Sugar loved to do floral work but most of all she enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren. She attended Clear Fork High School. Sugar was employed for 18 years with Nichols Floral in Whitesville and also worked part-time with Jay Roles Floral. Sugar was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Church of God of Dorothy.

In addition to her parents, Sugar is preceded in death by her baby brother, John Dickens and nephews, David Reed Collins and Brian David.

  Those left to cherish her memories include her loving husband, Walter Painter, Sugar was known to him as his doll for 41 years.  She was blessed to have had two beautiful daughters, Marinda Scarbro and husband Allen of Clear Creek, Amanda Scarbro and husband Jeff of Dorothy; three grandchildren who was her pride and joy, Hunter “My Hero”, Allison “My brown eyed girl” and Brooklyn “My blue eyed angel”; sisters, Lou Collins and husband Howard of Ameagle, Kay Thomas and husband Hershell of Seth, Barbara Hodges and companion Skip Miles of Griffithsville, Joyce Mae Thompson and husband Danny of Dorothy, Wanda Beller and husband Steve of Sycamore, Sandy Cunningham and husband Mike of Dorothy, Caroline Boulet and husband Rejean of Seth; brothers, Dallas Pettry and wife Joyce of Dry Creek, Willis Dickens of Charleston; a host of nieces, nephews and many great nieces and great nephews;  sister-in-laws whom she loved like sisters, Nancy Hodge, Debra Coon of Dorothy, Connie Pettry of Charleston and Donna Dickens of Orgas.

  Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Rev. Robert Brown and Rev. Ricky Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

  Pallbearers will be nephews, Adam, Eric, Dewayne, Kevin, Johnny Dee, Dallas Randall, Mark and Terry.

  Friends may gather with the family Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
