Mary Irene Vickers

ANSTED — Mary Irene Vickers, 99, of Ansted, formerly of Gad, passed away, October 16, 2012, at Ansted Center, following a long illness.

She was born January 19, 1913 in West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late John L. Vickers Sr., and Almida Hughes. She was preceded in death by her children, Jerry Lee Vickers and Betty Lou Neal.

For many years Mary delivered local newspapers and did janitorial work for her church, she was a homemaker and a member of Zoar Baptist Church of Kesler’s Cross Lanes, her pastor then was Pastor Harmon Grey.

Mrs Vickers is survived by 10 grandchildren; Michael L. Vickers, Teresa L. Anderson, Mary Elizabeth Carlton, Ann Marie Britt, Lori Kincaid, Alexandria Neal, Jimmy Neal, Mike Neal, Robert Neal and John Neal; 26, great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted. Burial will follow in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery at Kesler’s Cross Lanes, W.Va.

Friends may call from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

Cletus Altizer Wall

Cletus Altizer Wall, 88, of Coal City, passed away at home with her daughter Marie and son-in–law, Donald Workman, on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.

Born January 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Susan Whitt Altizer.

 In addition to her parents, Cletus is preceded in death by her husband Jack Wall; sons, Jackie Lee Wall and Russell Norman Wall.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Marie Workman and husband Donald of Coal City, Charlotte Hylton and husband Dennis of Oak Hill, Carolyn O’Gara of Coal City; sons, Tom Wall of Prudenville,  MI, Eugene Wall of Coal City; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Wall of Goodview, VA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Hospice of Southern West Virginia for the loving care they gave Cletus.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012, at Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia with Rev. David Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Friends may gather with the family Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
