Keith Gardner Cook
RAINELLE — Keith Gardner Cook, 89, of Rainelle, received his call home Saturday, November 30, 2013, at his home following a short illness.
Born September 17, 1924, at Quinwood, he was the last of the late Henry and Almeda Lilly Cook family.
Keith served in the United States Navy during WWII. Returning home, he worked in the coal mines and then served on the Rainelle City Police force for many years. Keith then went to work for the WV State Road as maintenance supervisor for five counties. He was a faithful member of the McRoss Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his wife Polly Holland Cook; his daughter Cheryl Jean Cook; his son Lloyd Cook; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Keith leaves behind several nieces and nephews, some who were very special to him, Ruth Ann Hagy and husband Dennis, Linda Smith, Wanda Comer, Curtis Keister, Jack Cook and Kevin Nutter; 2 very special friends Connie Yearego and Sharon Dunford; one stepdaughter Donna Martin; 3 stepgrandchildren Desiree, Al and Andrea Schmitt; and 2 special pastors Eddie Ray Goddard and Bennie Kenney.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Inc., with Pastor and friend Bennie Kenney officiating. Entombment will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.
Friends may call Monday, December 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the McRoss Baptist Church, HC 83 Box 362, Rainelle, WV 25962, because Keith loved his church.

Elizabeth Christeen Jennings
Elizabeth Christeen Jennings, 84, of Beckley, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013.
Born February 26, 1929, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Henry Wyman and Lola Hutchens Boblett.
Elizabeth was a retired Raleigh County School Teacher having taught at Institute Elementary for many years. She was a member of the Orchard Valley Women’s Club Degree of Honor, Senior Friends at Raleigh General Hospital and the Oak Grove Christian Church. Elizabeth loved spending time sewing, gardening and working in her flower garden.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Lowery Buford Jennings; sisters, Ruby Huffman and Mary Cathleen Scarafino; and brothers, Thomas, Willie (Ronce), Kenneth, James and Robert Boblett.
Survivors include her sister, Vera Snyder; brother, Muriel (Pete) Boblett; daughter, Frances Ilene Lavinder and her husband Forrest; sons, Lowery Wayne Jennings and his wife Judy, Ronald Howard Jennings and his wife Mary and Dennis Warren Jennings and his wife Kyoko; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Calfee Funeral Home with Pastor Kelly Gowan officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, December 2, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calfee Cemetery in Mt. Tabor.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
