Bobby Joe Ball II

Bobby Joe Ball II, age 36, of Sprague, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 23, 2013.

Born on June 25, 1976, in Beckley, he was the son of Bobby Joe Ball and Sherry Faye Stover Ball of Sprague.

Bobby was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, and was last employed at Pocahontas Coal Company as a coal miner.

He attended the Christ Temple Church at Huntington, W.Va. Bobby enjoyed the outdoors, the beach, and NASCAR and dirt track racing. He loved family time, people, and the Lord.  He lived life to the fullest every day. Bobby was a kind, anointed man with a huge marshmallow heart of compassion. He generously gave of his time and helped everyone he could. He felt like his passion in life was helping those sick and struggling with their addiction. Bobby was a recovering addict who found his purpose in helping others during their recovery. He was very active and strong in his recovery, and had lived in Huntington, at the Oxford House from March through November 2012, where he served as a Department of Corrections Outreach Coordinator. He also served as a Housing Service Coordinator for the Oxford House. From December 2012 to February 2013 he was a House Mentor at the Shepherds House of Grace in Huntington. He never met a stranger and saw the good in everyone.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carlos and Reda Stover, and by his paternal grandfather Freeland Ball Jr.

Surviving other than his parents include his brother, Jeremy Ball and his wife Joyce of Beckley; a niece LaneAnn Ball and a nephew Jeremy Ball II; his paternal grandmother,   Margaret Ball of Sprague. Many friends and several aunts, uncles, and cousins are also among his survivors.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Chuck Lawrence officiating. A  eulogy will be provided by Doug Cihon and Andrew Daniels. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and also an hour before the services on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

Bernie L. Brumfield Jr.

MCCONNELL — Bernie L. Brumfield Jr., 83, of McConnell, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.

At his request, Bernie’s body will be cremated and graveside memorial services will be at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

VICTOR — Barbara Sue Chapman, 69, of Horseshoe Creek Road, Victor, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.

Jimmie Darrell Cooper

Jimmie Darrell Cooper, 67, of Beaver, formerly of Cool Ridge, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.

There will be no services or visitation.

Doris Lee Decker

Doris Lee Decker, 80, of Cool Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013.

Born May 29, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Orville and Mavis McQuade Farley.

Doris was a loving mother, wife and MaMa who lived for her family and was proud of each and everyone. She loved to cook and take care of her family especially during the holidays.

Doris attended church with her family; she will be greatly missed by everyone.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donnie Ray Decker; parents, Orville and Mavis Farley; grandson, Chip Thompson; and sister, Eleanor Large.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Priscilla (Thompson) Painter and husband John of Cool Ridge; sons, Ray Decker and wife Bert of Jacksonville, Fla., David Decker and wife Barbara of Hurricane, Jonathan Decker and wife Patti of Lavergne, Tenn.; grandsons, Brandon Thompson and wife Susan of Cool Ridge, Melissa Zimmerman and husband Brian of Jacksonville, Fla., Daniel Ray Decker of Texas, Tracy Decker Baird and husband Brandon of Edwardsville, Tenn., David Jacob “Jake” Decker of Hurricane, Christopher Decker and wife Andrea of Arkansas; granddaughter; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Sonny Farley of Jacksonville, Fla.; and sister, Carol Farley Yeager of Beckley.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 26th, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Regina Kay Hill

TICKFAW, La. — Regina Kay “Katy” Hill, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, died Friday, February 20, 2013, of a sudden death at the age of 63.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, J.T. and Marie Hill, and her sister-in-law Gail Hill.

Originally from Beckley, W.Va., Katy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters Sierra and Mindy Daniel.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Jonathan Daniel, his fiancée Shawn Crawford, and two daughters, all of Tickfaw, Louisiana. Other survivors include her brother Arnold Hill of Beckley; her sister Tracie Walls of Texas and many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends in both West Virginia and Louisiana.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 27th, 3013, at 1 p.m. at Calfee Cemetery on Mt. Tabor Road, with Pastor Steven Stover officiating.
