Bobby Joe Ball II

Bobby Joe Ball II, age 36, of Sprague, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 23, 2013.

Born on June 25, 1976, in Beckley, he was the son of Bobby Joe Ball and Sherry Faye Stover Ball of Sprague.

Bobby was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, and was last employed at Pocahontas Coal Company as a coal miner.

He attended the Christ Temple Church at Huntington, W.Va. Bobby enjoyed the outdoors, the beach, and NASCAR and dirt track racing. He loved family time, people, and the Lord.  He lived life to the fullest every day. Bobby was a kind, anointed man with a huge marshmallow heart of compassion. He generously gave of his time and helped everyone he could. He felt like his passion in life was helping those sick and struggling with their addiction. Bobby was a recovering addict who found his purpose in helping others during their recovery. He was very active and strong in his recovery, and had lived in Huntington, at the Oxford House from March through November 2012, where he served as a Department of Corrections Outreach Coordinator. He also served as a Housing Service Coordinator for the Oxford House. From December 2012 to February 2013 he was a House Mentor at the Shepherds House of Grace in Huntington. He never met a stranger and saw the good in everyone.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carlos and Reda Stover, and by his paternal grandfather Freeland Ball Jr.

Surviving other than his parents include his brother, Jeremy Ball and his wife Joyce of Beckley; a niece LaneAnn Ball and a nephew Jeremy Ball II; his paternal grandmother,   Margaret Ball of Sprague. Many friends and several aunts, uncles, and cousins are also among his survivors.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Chuck Lawrence officiating. A  eulogy will be provided by Doug Cihon and Andrew Daniels. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and also an hour before the services on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
