Lydia Christine Williams
Lydia Christine Williams, 97, of Skelton, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on October 7, 2012, following a brief illness.
Born February 1, 1915, in Livermore, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Ben and Mary Crowder Doss.
Christine was a born again Christian and served the Lord for over 64 years. She retired from Appalachian Bible College where she was a cook for many years. Along with her husband, she worked to help establish Skelton Freewill Baptist Church. In her spare time she stayed very active, she enjoyed shopping, and working in her yard with her flowers, but she dearly loved serving the Lord and going to church every chance she had.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Omer Williams; her son, Jerry Williams; her grandson, Steven Williams; two sisters, Olivia Doss, and Marie Logan; her brother, Herbert Doss; and her son-in-law, Jack Tolliver.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four children, Bobby Williams and his wife, Kay, of Huntington, Shirley Sigman and her husband, Kenneth, of Holopaw, Fla., Janice Tolliver of Glen Fork, Randy Williams and wife, Sherry, of Skelton; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and deeply loved church family and friends.
Services celebrating the life and ministry of Christine will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Roger Pauley and Pastor Roger Tolliver officiating. Following the service, Christine will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the funeral home.
