William B. Roark

William “Bill” Barney Roark, 65, of Maben, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his residence following a short illness.

Born January 23, 1948 at Cool Ridge,  he was the son of the late Barney William and Reba (Ransom) Roark.

Bill was an auto mechanic and loved working on cars.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by three sisters, Charles Catherine “Kitty” Roark, Ruth Amnott, and Frances Cecil.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Linda Sampson Roark; one daughter, Kathleen Lowe and her husband, William; three sons, Owen William Roark and his companion, Jane Woods, Donald Lee Roark and his wife, Lynn, and William Edward Roark; three sisters, Ann Cox, Jenny Maddy, and Jean Maddy; four brothers, Wally Lilly, Robert Lilly, Roger Roark, and Gary Roark; six grandchildren, Steven, Katie, Nichole, Noah, Levi, and Chris; and two great grandchildren, Jaiden and Madison.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.

The family of William Roark is being cared for by Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens.


Addie Clotiel Taylor Stover

Addie Clotiel Taylor Stover, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18th, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, following a long illness.

She resided on Clear Fork Road in Beckley. Addie was born July 6th, 1937, at Clear Creek. She was the daughter of the late John Henry Taylor and Maude Pearl Toney Taylor.

Addie was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Jackson Stover and her three sisters, Arlenah Powers, Bernice Yost and Mary Ellis; four brothers, Claude Taylor, John (Totsie) Taylor, Carvel Taylor and Donald Taylor.

Mrs. Stover was the last member of her immediate family. She was a retired employee of Pinecrest Hospital in Beckley. Mrs. Stover was a member of the Ewing Creek Church of Pentecostal faith.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Danny Jackson Stover and his wife Kimberly of Beckley; grandsons, Gregory Jackson Stover and his wife Bethany of Fairdale, Kevin Matthew Stover of Clear Fork; sister-in-law, Dixie Stover and husband Glen E. of Cool Ridge; great-grandson, Draden Jackson Stover and one step grandson, Cayden Randolph.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Loretta Taylor and Reverend Rebecca Maynor officiating; songs by Erma Taylor.

Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family Thursday from 6 to  8 p.m. at the funeral home.
