David Allen Parks Sr.
David Allen Parks Sr., age 58, of Maple Meadow, went home to be with the Lord at his home on Monday, May 20, 2013.
Born on December 28, 1954, in Bluefield, W.Va., he was the son of Billie Parks of Cool Ridge and the late Lockie Thornton Parks.
Mr. Parks was a former coal mine electrician for 27 years. Upon his retirement, he was the co-owner and operator, along with his brother Mike of Dave Parks Electrical.
Residing at Maple Meadow since 1988, Mr. Parks enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his loving grandchildren.
As a decorated Martial Artist, Mr. Parks had enjoyed teaching karate at the YMCA for many years. He also had a passion of working with horses.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother William Gary Parks.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife, the love of his life, of nearly 40 years, Tonia Arlene Cole Parks; his children, David Allen Parks Jr. (Tracy) of Shady Spring, J. Adam Parks (Schaunna) of Maple Meadow, and Brenton Dane Parks (Maria) of Pax.
The pride and joy of his life, Madison, Autumn, Dillon, Montana, Addison, and Carter, who dearly loved their “PawPaw”.
Three brothers, Mike Parks of Coal City, Lonnie Parks (Candie) of Illinois, and Tom Parks of Cool Ridge; two sisters, Sherry Grim (Charlie) of Delaware, and Diane Sturgill (John) of Midway. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life Of David Allen Parks Sr. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Rev. Phillip Farrington officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
