Doug Bolen

Aaron Douglas “Doug” Bolen, 68, of Josephine, died Tuesday, May 14th, 2013, at the Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness.

Scott Allen Carmichael

LOOKOUT — Scott Allen Carmichael, 43, of Lookout, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013.

Doy Hanson Carpenter

Doy Hanson Carpenter, 88, a resident of Beckley and Upper Glade, W.Va.,  passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his home in Beckley.

He was born January 24, 1925, at Centralia, Braxton County, W.Va., the son of the late Barrick Emmitt Carpenter and Gussie Dove McCourt Carpenter.

For 38 years he worked as an electrician in the coal-mining industry in central WV. After his retirement from the position, he operated a heavy -equipment construction business. He also bought, refurbished, and sold several houses in W.Va. and N.C., Perhaps the work which he most enjoyed was that of restoring automobiles, especially vintage British sports cars, several of which have appeared in various shows and parades.

He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the Moose Club. He attended Family Worship Center of Beckley and Trinity United Methodist Church of Cowen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, F. Lucille Hamlinton Carpenter of Beckley, his children; Sharon L. (Larry) Williams, Susan D. Carpenter, both of Beckley, and his son D. Ralph (Mary Anne) Carpenter of Cowen, Patricia Ann ( Roger) Green of Summersville. He is also survived by his grandchildren:  Jason Williams of Summersville, Elizabeth Coffman of Summersville, Nikki Green of Summersville Kristen Carpenter of Houma, LA., and Jessica Hay of Sommerset, Pa., and his great-grandchildren; James Colton Lowery of Beckley, Isaac Ray White of Summersville, and Olivia Grace Hay of Sommerset, Pa.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lola Mae Kucish and Dorothy Carpenter, and his beloved grandson James Britton Lowery II.

All of those left behind cherish his memory. He was always a kind, sincere man who regardless of how busy he may have been with his various tasks, always had time for his family and friends. He never met a stranger and was always the first to offer help. He would give you the coat off his back, money from his pocket or a ride home

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Adams-Reed Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. James “ Oz “ Gray officiating. Burial will follow in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends will be received 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen.
