Bobby Ray Swim

GLEN FORK — Bobby Ray Swim, 81, of Glen Fork, passed away May 3, 2013, following a short illness.

Born November 2, 1931, at Glen Morrison, WV, he was the son of the late Amos and Wavie Swim.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Norma Green, and his uncle, Willard Cook.

Bobby served in the United States Military and worked in the coal mines.

Survivors include his best friend and like a son to him, Russell Church and his wife, Sharon, and their daughter, Rachael, all of Glen Fork; Felicia Rowe, whom he loved like a daughter, and her husband, Robbie, of Hanover, and their two sons, Levi and Braxton.

A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, in the Evans Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating.

Visitation will be from noon until time of the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.

MSgt. USAF (ret.) Dennis Taylor

MSgt. USAF (ret.) Dennis Taylor, 79, of Prosperity, went home to be with his Lord, on Friday, May 3, 2013, in the Beckley VA Medical Center following a short illness.

Born April 26, 1934, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Clarence and Calla Durham Taylor.

Dennis was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a medical tech in the Air Force. After serving in the Air Force, he came home and became a registered nurse, working at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, and the Beckley VA Medical Center. He was a former employee of Blue Ridge Funeral Home.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister and brother Helen Taylor and Thomas Taylor.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Carol Cox Taylor, his four children Denise Goode and husband Jim, Dana Webster and her husband Tommy, Ted Taylor and his wife Teresa, and Charles “Chuck” Taylor. Ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two more on the way. Five sisters and one brother, a host of nieces and nephews and beloved friends.

Services will be noon on Monday, May 6, 2013, in Dennis’s home church, Prosperity First Baptist Church, with his pastor Gary Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, where military graveside rites will be performed by the Beckley American Legion Post 32 Honor Guard.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
