Paris H. Stanley

MULLENS — Paris Hulen Stanley, 81, of Mullens, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his residence following a long illness.

Born January 30, 1932 at Hickory Ridge, Bud Mountain, he was the son of the late Roosevelt “Veldee” and Mary Jane (Bishop) Stanley.

Paris had formerly worked in the saw mill industry on gas lines and power lines, C&A Lumber Company, and retiring from Wyoming General Hospital where he served as a Janitor. He attended Highland Avenue Baptist Church and Solid Rock Worship Center.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Rita Stanley; one sister, Polly Grosswiler; and by three brothers, Theodore Stanley Jr., Raymond Stanley, and John Stanley.

Those left to cherish his memory include a sister, Mary M. McKinney; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Ailene.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Carl Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery, Bud Mtn.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Buford Dorsey Stump

Buford Dorsey Stump, age 75, of Beaver, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.

Born on February 22, 1938, at Beaver, he was the son of the late Buford Marion Stump and Dorothy E. Wood Stump.

Mr. Stump was a retired coal miner, and was a member of the UMWA. He had made his  home  all of his life at Beaver.

Mr. Stump was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Faye Stump, a daughter Theresa Webb, by sisters, Kay Cadle, Shirley Richmond, and Liz Ward.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Dennis Eugene Stump and his wife Doris of Greenbank, W.Va. and Roberta K. “Bobbie” Thompson and her husband James of Beaver; brothers, Doug Stump of Cool Ridge, Donnie Stump and his wife Faye of Cool Ridge, and Jeff Stump of Shady Spring; a sister, Nadine Jones and her husband Howard of Beckley; nine grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren also survive.   

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Bennie Harper and Rev. Kenny Webb officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount View Cemetery at Cool Ridge.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

Pallbearers will be family members.
