FAYETTEVILLE — Bernard G. Blake, 66, of Oak Hill, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, W.Va.

SEIVERVILLE, Tenn. — Hazel Bowers, 95, of Sevierville, formerly of Reynolds Avenue, Princeton, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Morristown, Tenn.
Born April 24, 1918, in Konnarock, Va., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Allie Sturgill Huffman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Alonzo Bowers and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children; Darlene Blankenship and husband Stanley of Bulls Gap, Tenn., Carol Harman of Sevierville and Ronald L. Bowers and wife Frances of Broad Run, Va. Her four grandchildren, Billy Harman and Michael Harman; Ronald A. Bowers and Travis L. Bowers along with three great grandchildren.
Services to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.
Friends may visit with the family Friday from 12:15 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Virgil Alanda Bradshaw
Virgil Alanda Bradshaw, 89, of Beckley, died Saturday, November 30, 2013.
Born February 4, 1924 in Slab Fork, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Mamie Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Bradshaw.
Mr. Bradshaw was a WWII Navy veteran, retiring in 1970 as a Chief Petty Officer. He then became a journeyman carpenter, being a leader he was able to secure jobs for a countless number of young men and women, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of St. Matthew AME Church, Beckley for more than 70 years. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, Fleet Reserve Association, Carpenters Local 1911, Black Navy Sailors of Great Lakes, Masonic Lodge #25 and was a lifetime member of the NAACP.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Merchant; three brothers and seven sisters.
Left to cherish precious memories are his children, Victoria Bradshaw of Beckley, Marsha Berger of Huntsville, Ala., Gary Bradshaw of Savannah, Ga., Eric Bradshaw of Beckley and Barry Bradshaw of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Thelma Cosby of Beckley and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at St. Matthew AME, 103 Mills Ave, Beckley, with Rev. Debra Smoot officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
