Timothy Jay Coffman

RICHWOOD — Timothy Jay Coffman, 56, of Richwood, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012.

At Mr. Coffman’s request, his body will be cremated. No services are being held at this time.

All arrangements were made by Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood.

Ronnie Dean Collins

Ronnie Dean Collins, age 74, of Cool Ridge, WV, passed away in Akron, Ohio, on Thursday morning, January 5, 2012.

Born on January 25, 1937, in Hazard, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Arthur Collins and Ida Mae Webb Collins.

Mr. Collins was retired from the Department of Highways for the State of WV as a welder. He had made his home in the Cool Ridge area for most of his adult life. Mr. Collins enjoyed sports, NASCAR racing, and hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Collins in 2010, two brothers, William Collins and Arthur Collins Jr., two sisters Peggy Lucas and Glenda Cline, and also by two grandchildren Shawn Snyder and Christopher Miller.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children: Teresa Snyder and her husband Kelvin of Akron, Ohio, Deborah Miller of Akron, Ohio, Sherry Farthing and her husband Rob of Cool Ridge, WV, and Ronnie Collins Jr., and his wife Nicky of Grandview, WV.

11 grandchildren, Todd Leary, Kevin Snyder, Stephanie Miller, Melissa Adorni, Nick Farthing, Danielle Farthing, Pierce Farthing, Ryan Collins, Joshua Collins, Bryce Collins, and Tessa Collins, and 8 great-grandchildren are also among his survivors. Mr. Collins was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life of Ronnie Dean Collins on Monday, January 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with Pastor Ernie Junior Moye officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until service time on Monday.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Helen Louise Decker

WELCH — Helen Louise Decker, age 97, of Welch, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, January 5, 1912, at Welch Community Hospital.

Born August 22, 1914, in Ashland, WV, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Jacob Bero Sr.

She was a resident of Welch the greater part of her life. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Welch, a former school teacher, having taught in Welch-Superior grade school. She also taught Tap, Ballet and Ball Room Dancing and was a former member of the Rose and Mum Club.

Preceded in death by in addition to her parents: her husband, Richard Decker; two brothers, George Bero and John Bero; two sisters, Irene Bero Kuhn and Margaret Radochio.

Survivors include one son, Richard Decker Jr. of Cleveland, OH; one daughter, Diane Decker Salsbery of Phoenix, AZ; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. from the St. Peter Catholic Church in Welch with Father Paul Manickathan, as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at the Fanning Funeral Home in Welch, from 6 to 8 p.m., where a Scripture Wake Service will be conducted at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, 111 Virginia Avenue, Welch, WV 24801, or the McDowell County Public Library, 90 Howard Street, Welch, WV 24801.

Pallbearers will be John Sidote, Russell Rice, Michael Vallo, Charles “Chip” Rosenecker, John Kuhn and Michael Kuhn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Caffrey, Sam Sidote and Donald Decker.

Joy Ellison

LANCASTER, Pa. — Joy Ellison, age 78, of Lancaster, Pa., formerly of Crab Orchard, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pa.

Born on July 23, 1933, at Glen White, she was the daughter of the late Omar Snuffer and Lula Cochran Snuffer.

Mrs. Ellison was a homemaker, and had made her home in Lancaster for the past 10 years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and reading.

Mrs. Ellison was preceded in death by her husband Billy Ellison, by a brother Roger Snuffer, and by a sister Helen Lake.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Eugene Ellison and his wife Lindy of Beckley, Ron Ellison and his wife Joyce of Lancaster, Pa., and James Ellison also of Lancaster, Pa.; two grandchildren, Amie Ellison, and Ashley Ellison, three great-grandchildren, Chasity Ellison, Lilly Kuhn, and Liah Kuhn; two brothers, John Snuffer of Murray, Ky., and Phillip Snuffer of Crawfordsville, Ind.; three sisters, Gloria Lane of Bel Air, Md., June Pugh of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Ellen Cook of Bahama, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews are also among her survivors.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate the Life of Joy Ellison at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Monday, January 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday.

Shirley Ann Plumley

On January 5, 2012, our beloved Shirley Ann Plumley of Shady Spring passed away at age 70.

Born April 11, 1941, at Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Floyd W. and Goldie Settle Blevins.

Shirley was the owner/operator of Shirley’s Upholstery in Shady Spring. She was an avid bowler and loved to play bingo.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Blevins, and one sister, Patricia Sisk.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories include her husband of 49 years, Garland M. Plumley; daughter Sheila Jo Wooten and son-in-law Harry Allen Wooten, daughter Sherry Plumley Stone; son Garland M. Plumley II and daughter-in-law Cassie Plumley, and her grandsons Ryan Morgan, Corey Plumley and Gage Plumley whom she adored. Brothers Floyd G. Blevins and Harold James Blevins, and sisters Jaunita Young, Virginia Wills, Judy Farley, Freda Graham, Mary Underwood and Brenda Wood.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2012, followed by funeral service at 2 p.m. at Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home in Shady Spring Chapel with Minister Oscar Schwitzerlette officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill.

Imogene Tedder Wilson

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Imogene Tedder Wilson, 79, of Hot Springs, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012.

Born in Slab Fork, W.Va., to the late Oliver and Evelyn Farley Tedder.

She was preceded in death by her infant sister Glenna Ann Tedder; her husband Ronald Wilson; son Kenna Michael Wilson; daughter Koneta Wilson; and grandson, Shawn King.

Survivors include her daughter Kyla Yeatman (Kenny) of Hot Springs, Ark.; her son Kevin Wilson (Gail) of South Haven, Miss.; three sisters and three brothers, Mary Larson (Herbert) of Citrus Springs, Fla.; Alphon Tedder (Jane) of Spring Hill, Fla.; Seward Tedder of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; Roy Tedder of Crab Orchard, W.Va.; Twila Harvath (Patrick) of Roswell, Ga.; Lura Pennington (Everette) of McDonough, Ga. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Imogene (lovingly known as Jean or Jeanie) had a God-given talent with a beautiful voice and played piano and guitar. As a young girl she sang in many churches and on radio with her sister Mary and brother Al as “The Tedder Trio.” After marrying Ronald (R.L.) Wilson, they sang in various groups and traveled throughout the country. In later years she continued to bless her family by singing at family reunions. She loved the Lord.

Funeral services were held on January 5, 2012, at the Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs, Ark. At her request, she will be cremated and entombment will take place at a later date at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Beckley.

Anthony C. ‘Tony’ Wohner

PINEVILLE — Anthony C. “Tony” Wohner, 58, of Pineville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, following a short illness.

He was born July 31, 1953, in Bluefield, WV, the only child of the late Anthony C. and Louise K. Dillon Wohner, Sr.

Tony was a graduate of Pineville High School, Class of 1972, where he was the starting quarterback for the football team his senior year.

He was a disabled coal miner, having last worked for CONSOL, at Itmann, WV.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Beverly, children, Chelsea Cozort and her husband Brandon, of Saulsville, Kyle Acord of Saulsville, Letisha Cook and her husband, Josh, of Indianapolis, Indiana, grandchildren, Gabriel Acord and Rain Cozort of Saulsville, Haylee Marie and Harper Nicole Cook of Indianapolis, Ind., beloved cousins, Jim Surratt of Pineville, Billy Surratt of Charleston, Sterling “Buddy” Wade of Rising Sun, MD, and Ann Lawson of Colora, MD, and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 9, at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Bluewell, WV. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Family will receive friends 1 hour before the service in the chapel.
