Jeffrey Carter

CHARLESTON � Jeffrey Carter, 44, of Baisden, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston.

Ronnie Dean Cox

JUMPING BRANCH � Ronnie Dean Cox, 46, of Jumping Branch, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 following a long illness.

Born Dec. 25, 1962, at Hinton, he was a son of the late Henry Brady Cox and Betty Farley Cox Eads of Princeton. A lifelong resident of Summers County, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, drag racing and horseback riding. Ronnie was of the Baptist faith.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lando Cox Sr.

Besides his mother, those left to cherish his memory are his brothers and sisters, Charles C. Cox Sr. and wife, Kathy, of Dunns, Marvin Stanley Cox Sr. and wife, Vicky B., of Odd, Betty Sue �Susie� Wyatt and husband, Steve, of Cool Ridge, Ivan Ray Cox and wife, Brenda, of Ghent, Carolyn Akers and husband, Andy, of Delaware, Ohio, and Nora Lee Eads and fianc�, Tim Rose, of Princeton, sister-in-law Lavale Cox of Macarthur, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Marvin Cox Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the Drewry-Farley Cemetery at Ellison.

Friends may call from noon until service time on Friday.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Marylee Hutchinson Fournier

Marylee Hutchinson Fournier, 74, of Glen Rogers, died at her residence surrounded by her family from a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009.

Born July 1, 1935, at Tolleytown, she was the daughter of the late Fred Cline and Freeda Hutchinson Broyles.

She was a graduate of Trap Hill High School in 1953, and she enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon J. Fournier, on Sept. 14, 2004, her maternal grandparents, George and Carrie Tolley-Hutchinson, her paternal grandparents, Dale and Josie Cline, and a sister, Janet Johnson.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmie Fournier and his wife, Jane, Gregory Fournier and his wife, Candy, and a foster son, Larry Clitis, all of Glen Rogers; daughters, Polly Bryson and her husband, Johnny, and Lisa Kenneda and her husband, Earl Joe, all of Glen Rogers; three brothers, Donald Broyles and his wife, Joy, of Surveyor, Bobby Lee Cline and his wife, Yvonne, of Sun Hill, and Jerry Cline and his wife, Juanita, of Virginia; five grandsons, Johnny Wayne Bryson and his wife, Marion, of Glen Rogers, Clatis Lee Bryson and his fianc�, Jennifer, of Beckley, Roger Michael Byson and his wife, Lynn, of Manila, The Philippines, Cody Baugh of Sabine, and Christopher Kenneda of Glen Rogers; five granddaughters, Cathy Jean Baugh of Sabine, LeeAnn Michelle Fournier of Glen Rogers, Kelly Marie Fournier of Glen Rogers, Kayla Kenneda of Glen Rogers, and Carrie Bishop and her husband Justin of Pineville; six great grandsons, Michael, Alijah, Johnny, Ryan, Demarin and Aidan; and six great granddaughters, Lindsey, Sydney, Kaitlyn, Alicia, Shania, and Courtney; also her best friend who was like a sister, Brenda Green of Glen Rogers, and a host of friends.

Services will be held in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, with Denver Justice officiating.

Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to service.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Wayne Bryson, Clatis Lee Bryson, Roger Michael Bryson, Christopher Kenneda, Michael Boling, and Cody Thompson.

CLEVELAND, Ohio � Herbert C. �Herb� Hancock, 82, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Beckley, entered into rest Wednesday, November 25, 2009 following a long illness.





Richard Arthur Hedrick

MORGANTOWN � Richard Arthur Hedrick, 86, of Bartow, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Samuel Henry

Mr. Samuel Henry, 82, of 166 Ridgecrest Avenue, Beckley, died November 23, 2009, at Raleigh General Hospital after a short illness.

He was born September 19, 1927, in Slab Fork, to the late Emmons Henry and Lena Brown Henry.

Mr. Henry was a coal miner and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Beckley.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sons, Mark Henry, and Samuel E. Henry, Jr., brothers, Elmer Henry, Leon Henry, Thomas Henry and Daniel Calloway, and one sister, Violet Toller.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his wife of 59 years, Martha Hughley Henry of Beckley; sons, Lawrence (Crystal) Henry of Beckley,; David (Mary) Henry of Beckley; and Anthony Moore of Detroit, Mich.; a daughter, Alesia Johnson of Stone Mountain, Ga.; special granddaughter, Denisha Henry of Bowie, Md.; daughter-in-law, Marion Henry of Beckley; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Henry and Ethelene Henry, both of Beckley; Sharon Hardy, special niece; Pam Pannell, and Jerome Temple, both special friends, and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at New Hope Baptist Church, 305 Worley Road, Beckley, W.Va., with Rev. Nathaniel Carey officiating.

Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of the services at the church.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

ERIE, Penn. � Charlotte T. Lester Lombardi, 69, formerly of Hanover, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie.

Dorothy Ann Scott

MOORESVILLE, N.C. � Dorothy Ann Scott, 64, or Mooresville, N.C., formerly of Beckley and Naoma, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, after a brave battle with cancer. She was a beloved mother, sister, wife, and friend.

Born March 28, 1945, at Naoma, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Katherine Hall. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Julie Stoiber of Mooresville, N.C.; a brother, Kenneth Hall of Surveyor; a brother, James Hall of Beckley; and a niece, Tammy Smith of Dunlap, Tenn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband and friend, Buddy Scott, of the home; three daughters, Vanessa Williams of Albany, N.Y.; Jessi Turner of Ladson, S.C; and Julia Marie Bullock of Mooresville N.C.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Summers and her husband, Dale, of New Port Richey, Fla., Alma Smith of Dunlap, Tenn., Nora Gauer of Rootstown, Ohio, Opal Gregory and her husband, Kenny, of Deerfield, Ohio, Dovie Peters and her husband, Gary, of Beckley; a brother, Marvin Hall and his wife, Greta, of Whitesville, W.Va., and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, and Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Iredell Memorial Gardens of Mooresville, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations of sympathy to be made to your local hospice.

Stella May Sizemore

TROUT � Stella May Sizemore, 68, of Trout, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009.

Virginia Weeks Smith

Virginia Smith, nee Weeks, passed away Nov. 24, 2009.

She was 94 years old.

Virginia was born Nov.18, 1915, at Fort Defiance, the daughter of G. C. and Ella Weeks.

She was the wife of Hondrus Smith; the mother of Barbara Allen of Edgerton, Wis., Jack Smith of Burbank, Ill., and Sam Smith of Burbank, Ill.; grandmother of Jack Smith, Jr., Duane Smith, Sean Smith, Amanda, Barbara Smith, Doug Smith, LeeAnn Nawolski and Derek Smith; great -grandmother of Ashley Cruz and Taylor Smith; great-great grandmother of Justin Hobart and Analee Nawolski.

She was preceded in death by brothers John, Russell, Tom and Bill Weeks and sisters Buleah Goings, Anna Wriston and Mildred Cantrell.

Virginia loved to garden and spend quality time with her grandkids, which gave her great enjoyment.

She retired after 25 years service with Westinghouse School Supplies.

Virginia was very much loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov .28 at 9 a.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 S. Central Ave., Oak Lawn, Ill.

Entombment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery.

Friends may visit Friday, Nov. 27, 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the funeral home.





Reba Wills

Reba Wills, 92, of Shady Spring, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Arrangements are pending completion at Rose and Quesenberry, Shady Spring.
