A celebration of Peggy’s life will be 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Rock Castle Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald “Doc” Adkins and Glen Hatfield officiating.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Veronica Lynn (Craft) Barnett
Veronica Lynn (Craft) Barnett, age 32, of Beckley, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley following a long illness.
Born on Aug. 24, 1977, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Gordon L. Craft and Violet Nyoka Laxton Craft of Beckley.
Veronica was a homemaker, and a graduate of Shady Spring High School class of 1996. She had attended the Beckley Church of God.
Surviving other than her parents, include her husband, Henry Barnett; a brother, Gordon Glenn Craft and his wife Marina of Beckley; three sisters, Samantha Shupe and her husband Tom of Crab Orchard, Pamela Dawn Payne of Delaware and Melissa Dee Du’Pre and her husband Steve of Oregon; nieces and nephews, Hillary and Heather Shupe, Alexandra Lynn Craft and Garret Lee Craft, Lori Mae Craft, Ashleigh Payne, Adrian Twigg, Michael Sweeney, and Shawn Fleck.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday Nov. 19, 2009, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity with Pastor Tim Mitchem officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to services.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Floyd Evans Hudson Sr.
Mr. Floyd Evans Hudson, Sr., 70, of Glen White, formerly of Hempstead, N.Y., died peacefully from an extended illness, November 14, 2009, at Raleigh General Hospital.
Born Jan. 4, 1939, in Halifax, Va., to the late Mr. Albert LaFayette Hudson and Lucy Moore Hudson.
He was a former member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Clover Va., a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Glen White, WV, was a retired computer technician and also served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Floyd E. Hudson Jr. and Nina M. Hudson; two brothers, John and William Hudson and two sisters, Elizabeth Bowman and Judy Hudson.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 47 years, Marie C. Smith Hudson; children, Thomas Davis of Hempstead, N.Y., Dexter (Deborah) Hudson of Triangle, Va., Michael (Renee) Hudson of Charlotte, N.C., Patricia (Tony) Bedewa of Elsemere, Ky., Tina Wood of Rockymount, Va.; Samantha (Chad) Simpson of Hempstead, N.Y., Porshe Hudson, Brittany Hudson and Eleyse Hudson, all of Beckley; brothers, Alfred Hudson of Freeport, N.Y. and LaFayette Hudson of Va.; sisters, Edna Toumou of Togo, W. Africa and Lillian Hudson of Freeport, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren; two precious great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, in-laws and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2009 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Glen White, with Rev. Onnie Cook officiating.
Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

BOZOO — John Dean Keatley, age 84 of Bozoo, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009.

Henry ‘Pete’ Lester
Henry “Pete” Lester, age 77, of Sophia, went to his eternal home on Monday Nov. 16, 2009, at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.
Born March 31, 1932 at Helen, W.Va., he was the son of the late Van and Angie Lester.
Mr. Lester was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and also loved all types of sports. He worked as a Federal Mine Inspector. He was also of the Christian faith and was a member of Sophia Church of God for 43 years. He served his country in the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Gene and Harold Lester.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years Elvira Lester, at home; sons, Timothy Lester of Sophia and Stan Lester and wife April of Dalton, Ga.; sister, Cora Phipps of Vienna, Va.; niece, Robin Zimmerman of Charleston, S.C.; and his loving grandchildren Ansley, Madison, Evan, and Emma Lester, all of Dalton, Ga.; also a host of loving nieces and nephews and special friend Rev. F.D. Sexton.
A celebration of “Pete’s” life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at the Sophia Church of God with the Rev. Stan Lester, Rev. James Bostic, and Rev. F.D. Sexton officiating.
Friends may gather with the family 6 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday at Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia and one hour before service time on Thursday.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with Oak Hill VFW Post 3110 conducting military graveside rites.

Deborah ‘Debbie’ Avis McClure
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Through God’s amazing grace, Deborah “Debbie” Avis McClure, 60 of New Smyrna Beach, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009. Debbie, a daughter of Harry B. and Jane Ann Atkinson of Beckley, blessed this earth with her arrival on June 22, 1949, in Beckley. A graduate of Marshall University School of Nursing, Class of 1971, her nursing career of 35 years was guided by a strong moral and ethical compass.
She cared for her patients and co-workers with a kind and compassionate heart.
Debbie’s joys in life were spending time with her family, riding her Harley, interior design, playing her piano, and the celebration of Christmas. She had a strong faith in God and loved the Lord.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she is survived by her husband of 39 years David "Butch" McClure; daughters, Angela Gentry of Nashville, Tenn.; Amanda Lynn and Carrie Carney of New Smyrna Beach; sons-in-law, Troy Gentry of Nashville, Tenn.; JC Lynn and Mark Carney of New Smyrna Beach; grandchildren, Kaylee Gentry, Savannah and Ethan Lynn; sister, Karen Eller of Beckley; brothers, Barney Atkinson of Anderson, S.C. and Bill Atkinson of Beckley; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Mary McClure of Huntington, W.Va.
Her family and friends will deeply miss her and will eternally cherish the short time that God allowed her to bless our lives on this earth.
Her family would like express their sincerest gratitude to the numerous friends and family members who continued to fervently pray for Debbie throughout her battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Chapman’s Mortuary 2851-Third Avenue, Huntington, with Pastor Brady K. Lipscomb officiating.
A graveside service will immediately follow at the Gill Cemetery in Salt Rock, W.Va.

Arley L. Tincher Sr.
Arley L. Tincher Sr., 75, of Oak Hill, died on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at his home.
Born April 23, 1934 at Springdale, W.Va., he was the son of the late Hazel and Bessie Tincher.
Mr. Tincher was of the Baptist faith and was a retired steel mill welder having worked in Chicago.
His first wife, Louvine Josephine (Tincher) Tincher, second wife, Mary Haggerd Tincher, son, Robert, granddaughter, Candy, sisters, Faye and Corey and brothers, Clarence, Jessie, Ray and Alvie preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Arley L. Tincher Jr. and wife, Linda of Oak Hill, Buddy Tincher and wife, Norma of Union and Ronnie Tincher and wife, Tina of Scarbro; three daughters, Goldie Settle and companion, Almer of Hilltop, Bessie Smith and husband, Lloyd of Fayetteville and Kathy Dean of Oak Hill; stepson, Robert Humphrey of California; former wife, Virginia Higginbotham of Oak Hill; one brother, Benjamin Tincher of Rupert and three sisters, Dorothy of Charleston, Loretta Patrick of Sand Branch and Irene Donnally of Oak Hill.
Twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren also survive him.
Graveside rites and committal service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Rev. Emmit Patterson officiating. Burial will follow.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.
