Andrew Avancini

THAYER — Andrew Avancini, 65, of Thayer, passed away at his home Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.

Born Dec. 29, 1943, on Highland Mountain at Quinnimont, the son of the late Bennie and Lucinda Adkins Avancini.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Wade Avancini and Andy Lewis Avancini. Andrew was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany, and was retired from Yellow Freight Company where he was a tractor-trailer driver for over 24 years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife and best friend, Darlene Brady Avancini; his children whom he was very proud of, Christina Maynard and husband Chris, Adam Avancini and companion Brandy Wetzel, Anthony Avancini and wife Heidi, Kimberly Smith, Brooke Avancini and companion Troy White and Angela Leonard and husband Robert. He was stepfather to Donyille Pearson; Donald Tumolo and companion Stephanie Hann and Dwayne Tumolo; a sister, Janie Harris and husband Gene.

He was the nephew of Vede Sexton and Melvin Avancini and his wife Kitty, and had 14 grandchildren.

He was the Father everyone wants. May he be at peace and look over us and help guide us with each passing day. You will be missed by many. We love you!

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill with Father Paul Yuenger as celebrant.

The family will receive friends at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main St., Oak Hill, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a Christian wake service at 6:15 p.m.

Anna Marie Epperly Harvey

HINTON — Anna Marie Epperly Harvey, 80, of Hinton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

JONESBORO, Ga. — Virginia Katherine Ide, 76, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, in a Henry County, Georgia, hospital after a short illness.

Service will be 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Longanacre Funeral Home, Fort Spring, with the Rev. Stephen Baldwin officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of the funeral Monday at the funeral home.

OAK HILL — Hobert Kaylor, 85, of Oak Hill, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, following an extended illness.

Irene Snow Williams, 82, of Beckley passed away at her residence Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.

ROCK VIEW — Mrs. Ruby Workman 93 of Rock View passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Raleigh General Hospital.
