Carles Jerome ‘Butch’ Fields
Mr. Carles Jerome “Butch” Fields, 62, of 409 Burmeister Ave., Raleigh, W.Va., died on Oct. 15, 2009 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born Aug. 7, 1947, to the late Norman Fields and Edith Smith Fields, in McAlpin, W.Va., he was a member of Sky Baptist Church, Beckley.
He was a member of King Hiram Abiff Lodge No. 25 Worship Master, King Solomon Evers 305 Consistory, Royal Arch Knights of Templar HB Hundley No. 13, Chapter 50 Order of Eastern Star, former Member of Ramadam 127, Past President of East Beckley Midget League, and Stoco Communities Reunion.
Carles was preceded in death by his great aunt and uncle that raised him, Dude and Britannial Smith, step-brother, Ben, sister, “Peaches” Fields, niece, Angela Fields, mother-in-law, Geneva Trigg.
Left to cherish precious memories are his wife, Patricia Lynn Trigg Fields of Raleigh; children: Carles Fields III, of District Heights, Md., Jeremy Fields, of Raleigh, W.Va., Renita Trigg, of Beckley, Janea Fields, of Raleigh, W.Va., Bradley Pack, Stephon Ross, Shannon Ross, Markus (Maria) Christian, all of Beckley, Scott (Heather) Kincaid, Kevin Edmonds, and Raymond Edmonds, all of Raleigh, W.Va.; brother, Kenneth (Renee) Smith, of Beaver, W.Va.; sisters, Norma Jean Fields, Glendora (Otha) Fox, and Ilene Fields, of Detroit, Mich., Alice Fields, and Alicia Fields, of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2009 at Sky Baptist Church, 413 Maplewood Lane, Beckley, with Rev. William L. Fruit officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Margaret Joe Ann Raines Gill
HILLDALE — Margaret Joe Ann Raines Gill, 72, of Hilldale, died Tuesday morning, October 20, 2009 at her home following a long courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born November 5, 1936 at Barger Springs, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Virginia Claire McCall Raines.
Margaret was a housekeeper for many different families and she loved playing bingo.
Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert “Bo” Gill on November 12, 2005; one brother, George Franklin Raines and two grandchildren, Anthony A. Adkins and Joseph “Bubba” Adkins.
Survived by one son, Frankie Adkins and wife Kim of Hilldale; three daughters, Karen Sue Adkins of Madams Creek, Linda Kay Bennett of Hilldale and Brenda Gay Adkins and companion Danny Adkins of Hinton; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Dana Stalnaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery.

Sylvia Marie Lambert
SMITHFIELD, Va. — Sylvia Marie Lambert, 88, passed away on October 19, 2009, in Sentara Obici Hospital.
She was born in Wyoming County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Isaac F. and Nancy Green Mullens.
Mrs. Lambert was a resident of Isle of Wight for the past 35 years. More recently she made her home in Suffolk, Va. Mrs. Lambert attended business college and she was also a 1940 graduate of Pineville High School in West Virginia. She had a love for doing crafts.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Lambert, and a daughter, Phyllis Ausburne; six brothers and one sister.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Keith Lambert (Denise) of Smithfield; daughters, Wilma Lusk (Lacy) of Richmond, Va., Carol Mayhew (Leonard) of Virginia Beach, Va., Janice Stuckey (Mike) of Locust Hill, Va., June Golden of Suffolk, Margaret Turner of Portsmouth, Va. and Teresa Lambert of Smithfield; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Park, Suffolk, Va.
Family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Stella Cox Lilly
Stella Cox Lilly, age 94, of Beckley, departed this life and entered her heavenly home on Tuesday October 20, 2009 at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.
Born August 3, 1915 at Lilly, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Cox and Mary Allie Mann Cox.
She was the last surviving member of a family of 13 siblings.
Mrs. Lilly was a member of the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church at Beaver, and was a homemaker. She was a caregiver to all of her family, and enjoyed taking care of people.
She had lived most of her life in Beckley.
Mrs. Lilly was preceded in death by brothers, Olive, Arthur, Elliott, Leslie, Earnie, Basil, Carley, and Arvil Cox, and sisters, Faye Lilly, Sylvia Radford, Thelma Tuskey, and Goldie Tolliver.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 73 years, Elder Kenna Lilly of Heartland Nursing Facility; a son, Arnyst Lilly and his wife Nancy of Beckley; four grandchildren, Sabrina Ballard of Sandbranch Road, Michelle Whitmer and her husband Ralph of Midland, Va., Arnyst Lilly II and his wife Michelle of Daniels, Aaron Lilly of Beckley; seven great-grandchildren, Anthony Ballard and his wife Noel of South Charleston, Abbie Ballard of Tennessee, Olivia Ballard of Sandbranch Road, Jessie Whitmer of Midland, Va., Jared Lilly of Daniels, Kendal Lilly of Daniels, Trevor Lilly of Beckley; and one great-great grandson, Mason Ballard of South Charleston, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thurssday, Oct. 22, 2009, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Elder Jerry McGrady officiating. Burial will follow at the Cox Cemetery at Jumping Branch, W.Va.
Friends may call one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Lucille Ruth Mitchell of Cranberry departed this life and went to be with Jesus Christ her Savior on Monday, October 19, 2009.
Lucille was born on December 4, 1921 at Warden, now called Stanaford, W.Va., the daughter of Buck and Emily Warden Dodge.
Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Proceeded in death by her husband of 45 years, John Mitchell. Also a brother, Harry Warden, and her son-in-law, Ron Robertson Sr.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Kitty Lou Robertson of Beckley and Kyra Lynn Vance and her husband Bill of Cranberry; William “Chuck” Dixon, who is like a son, and his wife Beulah of Newport News, Va.; four grandchildren, Tammy Crews and her husband Scott Calhoun, David Vance, Sherry and her husband Alfred “Ootsie” Wooten, Stephanie and her husband Jason Hackworth; five great-grandchildren, Kyra Ann and Kristina Vance, Lexie and Tyler Hackworth, and Bryn Calhoun; two step grandchildren, Ron Robertson Jr. and Terasa Miller and their families.
A celebration of Lucille’s life will be 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Randy Warden officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Jack ‘Squirrel’ Edward Montgomery
DOTHAN — Jack “Squirrel” Edward Montgomery, 56, of Dothan, died on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born Sept. 4, 1953 at Montgomery, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Workman and Gladys Louise Amick Montgomery.
Jack was a member of the Dothan Community Church.
His first wife, Patricia Lynn Treadway Montgomery, second wife, Barbara Ann James Montgomery, daughter, Tina Michelle Montgomery and son, James Montgomery preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Naylor Pennington Montgomery; step children, Sylvia Blevins of Danville, Georgie Rollins of Robson, Jeremiah Pennington of Logan and Jeremy Scott James of Beckwith and a sister, Susie Stark of Whipple.
He is also survived by a special niece and nephew, John Montgomery and Sarah Montgomery and a host of friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Lum Toney officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Nancy Keatley Tolliver
TAZEWELL, Va. — Nancy Keatley Tolliver, 73, of Heritage Hall, Tazewell, a former resident of 37 Valley Dr., Princeton, died Monday, October 19, 2009, at her residence.
Born in Dunns, W.Va., March 7, 1936, she was the daughter of June Moye Lilly of Beckley and the late Charles Hatcher.
Nancy was a retired beautician and for several years owned and operated Nancy’s Beauty Bar in Princeton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she attended the Adult Bible Sunday School Class and served on the bereavement meals committee.
In addition to her father, her husband, Rex Tolliver, one son, Michael Wayne Keatley, and two sisters, Sarah Lilly and Lois Guard, preceded her in death.
In addition to her mother, survivors include two sons, Robert Keatley and Jeffrey Keatley and his wife Kristy, all of Princeton; five grandchildren, Cody Keatley, Laura Keatley, Kaleigh Keatley, Amanda Jessie and Lexi Keatley; one brother, Charles Hatcher and his wife Ruth of Dunns and four sisters, Oney Pittman and her husband Earl of Winchester, Va., Barbara Moran and her husband Harold of Bluefield, Betty Lilly of Beaver and Laura Lilly of Flat Top.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 22. 2009, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Randy Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Carlos Allen Williams
Capt. Carlos A. Williams, DVM. 55, of 238 Fairview Ave., Beckley, died on October 13th 2009 at 11:30 am (2:30 pm EST) in Tucson, Arizona.
Born July 10, 1954 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Jordan M. Williams and Cecilia A. Dobbins.
Dr. Williams graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science Cum Laude in 1978. He also received a Master of Agriculture in 1980.
He acquired his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1984.
In 1984 - 1990 he served in the United States Army Veterinary Corps. He left his military career with the rank of Captain promotable to Major.
Shortly after his military career he went on to work with the USDA as a Veterinarian for Southern West Virginia. He then worked with Princeton Veterinary Associates and Raleigh County Animal Hospital.
In 1992 Dr. Williams opened his own business Crossroads Small Animal Clinic. During the tenure of Crossroads Small Animal Clinic, Dr. Williams was often featured in various local newspaper articles and local television interviews.
In 2002 Dr. Williams retired from Veterinary practice.
Survivors include his daughter Carissa J. Abitabilo and her husband Joey M. Abitabilo of Boston, Mass.; two sons Elijah J. C. Williams and Zane C. M. Williams; grandson Isaac S. Abitabilo, and half-brother Meredith E. Williams of Boomer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22nd, from noon to 2 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, with burial following at Williams Cemetery in Shady Springs.
