Walter Rupert Hanson
RENICK — Walter Rupert Hanson, 69, of Renick, WV, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center after a long illness.
Born December 16, 1943, in Harve-de-Grace, Maryland, Walter was the son of Don and Theta Workman Hanson and grandson of Con and Mollie Johnston.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Renick; sons Dean (Julie) of Lewisburg, Chris (Ann) of Auto; brother Thomas (Alma) of Auto; sisters Carol Sheets of Florida, Sylvia Simpson (Andy) of Auto, and Lisa Roach (Doug) of Virginia; nephew Clark Taylor (Lisa) of Virginia and grandchildren, Olivia, Sean, Chase and Brody. He was preceded in death by his sisters Donna and Phyllis.
Walter was a Mason and a Ruritan, and was a member of the National and West Virginia Cattleman’s Associations. He was a well-known farmer and Cattleman, real estate developer and businessman in and around Greenbrier County, with a fine appreciation for quality cattle and antique tractors.
But he was most appreciative of his grandchildren, Olivia, Sean, Chase and Brody. He was an active participant in all phases of their lives, attending ball games, livestock shows and Grandparents Day luncheons at their schools and took pleasure in teaching them the fine art of hunting and fishing.
He loved them dearly and they brought great joy to his life.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg on Sunday, July 28, 2013.
Graveside service with Masonic Rites will be conducted at 12 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Morningside Cemetery at Renick.
A luncheon will follow the service at the Valley Ranch Farm in Renicks Valley, home of Dean Hanson.

HANOVER — Franklin Lester, 74, of Hanover, WV 24839, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital, Charleston, WV.
He was born January 30, 1939, at Hanover, WV, to the late William Bertie and Ardith (Browning) Lester.
He was a Loan Officer at BB&T.
He was preceded in death by Parents, 7 Sisters and 5 Brothers.
Survivors include his 5 Brothers: Roger (Sharon) Lester of Coal Mountain, WV, Jimmy (Rosie) Lester of Cleveland, Ohio, Willis (Penny) Lester of Rockhouse, WV, Curtis “Sammy” Lester of Baileysville, WV, Dale (Lynn) Lester of Baileysville, WV; his 3 Sisters: Lucille Collins of Oceana, WV, Donna (David) Thompson of Hanover, WV, Lynn Justice of Hanover, WV; many nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 28th, 2013, at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, WV, with the Rev. Ronnie Lester officiating. Burial will be in Lester Family Cemetery, Joe Point, Hanover, WV.
Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Manuel Litos, 79 of Ameagle, WV, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV, after a long illness.
He was born June 11, 1934, at Ameagle, WV, a son of the late Minas John and Louise Barnard Litos.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and George Litos.
Manuel worked to operate John Mike’s Restaurant which opened in 1946 by the Litos Family and served the Clear Fork community for many years.
He is survived by two sisters, Kathleen and Bettie Litos; a brother, John Litos, all of Ameagle, WV.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 2013, at 1 o’clock in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV, with Pastor David Minturn officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

James Carl McGhee Sr.
NEWTON, N.C. — James Carl McGhee, Sr., age 83, of Newton, NC, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at his residence.
Born January 17, 1930, in Eccles, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph Harden and Nora Pearl Cozort McGhee.
James was a retired Ford auto worker, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of UAW. He was a member of Maiden Church of God, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Iris McGhee and Alma Fay Conars, and a brother, Albert McGhee.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Smith McGhee; two daughters, Viola May McGhee of Newton and Donna Louise Knapp and husband, Thomas, of Hickory; a son, James Carl McGhee, Jr., of Hickory; 5 Grandsons and 2 Great-Grandsons.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Hope, WV, with Pastor David Price officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
