Ricky Allen

Ricky Allen, age 33, of Beckley, W.Va., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Harold Arthur

Harold Arthur, 77, of Piney View, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, is in charge of the arrangements.

Brada Faye Bennett

Brada Faye Bennett, 85, of Beckley, moved on to the Heavens in her new life Sunday, January 25, 2009.

Born April 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James and Sarah Godbey.

Brada loved to help people at the Wildwood House when she was able. She enjoyed gardening, reading the newspaper, and was known for her cooking. Brada was the first resident at the Wildwood House and resided there for 27 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oden Elzie Bennett; daughters, Audrey Ann Athey and Sandra Kay Bennett; brothers, Robert Godbey and Asa Godbey; sisters, Nida Light, Ophia Johnson, and Nada Corey; and a granddaughter, Audrey Annett Athey.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Orville “Jim Bob” Athey, Jr., and wife Kathy of Martinsville, Va.; daughters, Sherry Holdren and husband Donald of Mt. Ulla, N.C., Roxanna Simmons and husband Jerry of Mt. Ulla, N.C., and Mary Alice Bennett of Beckley, W.Va.; a sister, Mabel Breeden of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Kelly Davis, Kirk Athey, Jimmy Athey, Brian Simmons, Stephanie Drye, and Sarah Holdren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at the Wildwood House at a later date where a tree will be planted in Brada’s honor celebrating her life.
