James W. Beckett Jr.

LOGAN — James W. Beckett Jr., 90, of Logan, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time. Honaker Funeral Home of Logan is in charge of arrangements.

Richie Dean Brown

BRENTON — Richie Dean Brown, 55, of Brenton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008.

Born Aug. 3, 1953, at Iaeger, he was the son of the late French J. and Imogene West Brown.

Mr. Brown was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed being outdoors, animals, fishing and being with family and friends. Richie was also an avid NASCAR fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Brown; a sister, Sandra Brown; and grandparents, Tennessee Toler and Tressie and Herbert West.

Survivors include his daughter, Samantha Reed and her fiance, Eric Cales, of Jumping Branch; and two sisters, Janet Asbury and her husband, Thomas, of Brenton and Donna Stafford of Orlando, Fla.

Services will be private.

Patricia D. Berry Gardner

Patricia D. Berry Gardner, 61, of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at home, following a short illness.

Born Jan. 27, 1947, on Backus Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Earl Berry and Marie Gilkerson Berry Hunt.

She was a homemaker for the past eight years and was of the Pentecostal Faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special nephew, Kevin Hunt; a brother-in-law, Michael Hunt; and loving in-laws, Jim and Virginia Gardner.

Those left to cherish Pat’s memories include her devoted husband of 33 years, James Gardner of Smith Mountain Lake; a stepfather, Michael Hunt Sr. of Florida; brothers, Earl Kea-ton Berry and wife, Edna, of Backus Mountain and Justice Berry and wife, Martha, of Backus Mountain; sisters, Joyce Goins and husband, Norman, of Alto, N.J., Brenda Hunt of Backus Mountain, and Pamela McCants and husband, Danny, of Glade Springs; a stepsister, Joann Gardner of Prosperity; a stepbrother, Junior Berry of Delaware; brother-in-law, Andrew Gardner and wife, Tracy, of Crawley; a sister-in-law, Diana and husband Mark Oxley of Crab Orchard; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
