HOLLYWOOD — Matthew Robert Hoke, 22, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2008.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel, Union. Burial will follow in the Vance Cemetery, Hollywood. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

On Sunday, June 22, 2008, Hazel Holliday passed away at the Bowers Hospice House. She was in her 89th year.
Born Hazel Georgia Landreth on July 18, 1918, at Bolar, Va., she was eldest of three daughters born to the late Charles Brown and Elsie Earle Burns Landreth. Her sister Nellie Monk preceded her in death.
Hazel came to Beckley as a young child where she has been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. A devoted member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church, Hazel has worshiped there for the past 85 years. She worked for many years at the Knitting Shop above the White Cross Pharmacy. Hazel was a lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
In addition to her family she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Hughart Holliday, whom she married on Sept. 30, 1938.
Hazel was the beloved mother of Mike Holliday and his wife Vada of Deland, Fla., and Pat Holliday and his wife Paulette of Palm City, Fla.; the dear grandmother of Michael Holliday and his wife Sarah; Heather Richmond and her husband Doug and Robert Holliday; the great-grandmother of Stephen, Alyssa, Sullivan and Lanie; fond sister of Jerry Edwards of Beckley; several nieces and nephews survive, among them a special niece, Debbie Devores, and her good friend, Eladene Pickel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service.

Amara Evette Neely, 6-week-old baby daughter of Tara Neal and Joseph Neely of Oak Hill, W.Va., died on Friday, June 20, 2008, at CAMC - Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Charleston, W.Va.
She was born on May 6, 2008, at Huntington, W.Va.
Her paternal grandfather, Daniel B. Neely Jr., and great-grandparents, Daniel B. Neely Sr. and Do-rothy Neely, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sister, Chloe Neely of Oak Hill; paternal grandmother, Linda Neely of Oak Hill; maternal grandparents, Anna Kincaid of Oak Hill and Neal Kincaid of Fayetteville; maternal great-grandparents, Richard and Lee Ann Baily of Oak Hill; and paternal great-grandmother, Irene Neely of Oak Hill; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Burial will be at the Treadway Cemetery, Oak Hill.

Karen Keene Todd
Karen Keene Todd, age 43, of Lester, died on Friday, June 20, 2008, at home.
Born June 6, 1965, in Olney, Md., she was the daughter of David and Judy Lester Keene.
She is survived by her parents, David and Judy Keene of Lester; an 11-year-old daughter, Briannah Cheyenne Todd of Lester; two sisters, Pamela Keene Wood of Lester and Melissa Keene of Princeton; and a niece, Jaime Doss of Lester.
Karen was a former medical transcriptionist and a fun-loving person all her life. She could grow beautiful gardens of flowers and had a great love of animals. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
In honor of Karen’s wishes, no public services will be held. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
