Joyce ‘Tommie’ L. DeLung Davis
DOTHAN — Our loving mother, grandmother and sister, Joyce “Tommie” L. DeLung Davis, 76, of Dothan, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at her home.
Born Sept. 4, 1931, at Dothan, she was the daughter of the late John and Arizona Lafferty DeLung.
Mrs. Davis was a member of Dothan Community Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brenton “Junior” Davis, and two sisters, Delores Davis and Barbara Wyatt Graham.
She is survived by the family she cared for and worried over, including two sons, Brenton Davis and wife, Evelyn, of Mossy and Johnny Davis and wife, Edith, of Fayetteville; a daughter, Brenda Rogers and husband, Thomas Sr., of Dothan; three brothers, John Thomas “Pockets” DeLung of Florence, S.C., and Keith DeLung and Frankie “Poke” DeLung, both of Dothan; and three sisters, Betty Sue Buckland of Rainelle and Peggy Jones and Blanche Massey, both of Scarbro.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Stacey Stowers and husband, Paul, Thomas Rogers Jr. and wife, Karrie, Heather Ferguson and Joshua Davis; several nieces and nephews; as well as her two dogs.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Pastor Darrell Fuller officiating. Burial will be at Peters Cemetery, Dothan.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Retha Pauline ‘Polly’ Dickens
Retha Pauline “Polly” Dickens, 75, of Drews Creek, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at her home after a long illness.
Born Dec. 14, 1931, at Peach Tree, she was a daughter of the late Grady and Brady Pettry.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Emygene Bays; and brothers, Albert Pettry, Ross, Kenneth, Charlie, James Coy and Alvie Ray.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Harrison and husband, Steven, of Drews Creek; sisters, Phyllis Miller and Catherina “Cassie” Bailey, both of Drews Creek, and Louise “Lucy” Cantley of Peach Tree; a grandson, Steven Craig Harrison II and companion, Shelley Per-singer, and grandchild, Aleah Faith, all of Drews Creek; special sisters-in-law, Martha Pettry and Elsie Pettry; special friends, Margaret and Perry Lester and Nancy and Steve Gyovai; special nieces, Sherry Workman and Melissa Bailey; and caregivers, Sherry Workman and Allan Workman.
Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Union Chapel, Drews Creek, with the Rev. Donnie Russell officiating, with opening prayer by James Arvis Bailey. Singers will be the Turner Family. Burial will follow in Pettry Dickens Cemetery, Drews Creek.
Pallbearers will be Steven Paul Gunnoe, Ray Gunnoe, Billy Ray Jarrell, James Cantley, Leslie Bailey, Robert Workman, David Workman, Tommy Alford, Terry Miller and Steve Harrison.
Friends may call one hour before service Saturday at the church.

Robert Dean Fraley
Robert Dean Fraley, 53, of Colcord, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, as a result of a coal mining accident near Sharples.
Born Dec. 10, 1953, he was the beloved son of Roger Dean and Kathleen Dickens Fraley of Dorothy.
He was a dedicated employee of Coalfield Services of Wytheville, Va., and a retired member of the UMWA, a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a member of Whitesville Masonic Lodge No. 162 and a member of the Moose Lodge.
Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, stepdaughter, Trena Dawn Toney, and a nephew, Kenneth Wayne Fraley.
Other than his parents, Robert is survived by his precious daughters to whom he was the greatest Dad in the world, Jennifer Sue Fraley Williams and her husband, Tommy, of Selma, N.C., and Kelli Dawn Fraley and fiancé, Matt Williams, of Colcord; a grandson, Shawn Williams of Selma; his companion, Dinah Williams, and stepson, Jesse Williams, both of Colcord, and stepdaughter, Joy Maynor and her children, Luke, Avery and Teya, all of Beckley; a brother, Roger Fraley and his wife, Sherry, of Rock Creek; a sister, Kathleen Denese Dillon and her husband, Tim, of Brook Park, Ohio; nephews, Roger and Adam Fraley; nieces, Emily Fraley and Audrey Dillon; and a host of extended family members, friends and co-workers.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Cecil McClellan, the Rev. Jerry Pauley and David Pettry, CLP, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Members of Whitesville Masonic Lodge No. 162 will serve as pallbearers. Roger and Adam Fraley will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Basil Joseph McKinney
BUD — Basil Joseph McKinney, 64, of Bud, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007.
Born Ap-ril 17, 1943, in Wyoming County, he was the son of Maudie Belcher McKinney of Cool Ridge and the late Dasil McKinney.
Basil gave his life to the Lord in January 2007. He enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball where he was a pitcher for 20 years; he enjoyed the water, boating, fishing and watching NASCAR and baseball and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He graduated from Herndon High School and attended Beckley College. He was the owner and operator of Alpoca Water Works Inc. and managed coal preparation plants for over 40 years and the last five years for ICG Coal Co.
In addition to his father, Basil was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Trotter.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Patsy McKinney; two daughters, Rhesa Shrewsbury and husband, Scotty, of Princeton and Melissa Shrewsbury and husband, Randall, of Cool Ridge; a son, Basil Joseph “Joey” McKinney Jr. and wife, Miranda, of King, N.C.; three granddaughters, Kristen, Kaylee and Savannah; two grandsons, Nickolas and Randy; two sisters, Brenda Bishop and husband, Ronnie, of Richmond, Va., and Betty Olmstead and husband, Galen, of Virginia Beach, Va.; best friend, Jesse “Jay Bird” Maynard; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, with Pastors Butch White and Ray Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
