Richard Miles Atwell Sr.

RUPERT — Richard Miles Atwell Sr., 65, of Anjean Road, passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 20, 2006, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston following a short illness.

Born June 6, 1940, at War, he was a son of the late Herbert Miles Atwell and Rosetta Blair Atwell Shelton of Yukon.

Mr. Atwell was a member of Greenbrier Avenue Church of God in Rainelle and worked in construction as a dry wall finisher.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Jane Queen Atwell; his mother, Rosetta Blair Shelton of Yukon; three daughters, Barbara Payne of Bradshaw, Rosia Payne of Raysal and Lori Huffner of Mount Holly, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Mary Boggs of Rupert; three sons, James Atwell of Bradshaw, Daniel Atwell of Bradshaw and Richard Atwell Jr. of Bradshaw; a stepson, Gary Ratliff of Clintonville; four sisters, Eunice Edgell of Bradshaw, Sylvia Jane Deskins of Bradshaw, Loretta Payne of Coeburn, Va., and Katherine Flutz of Statesville, N.C.; five brothers, Dillard Ray Atwell of Bradshaw, Charles Miles Atwell of Bradshaw, John Henry Atwell of Union, David Lee Atwell of Statesville and Joseph Blair Atwell of Iaeger; 21 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenbrier Avenue Church of God, Rainelle, with Bishop Michael Davis and the Rev. Michael Simms officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, and one hour before service Saturday at the church.

Linda Gaye Cales Bowyer

BEREA, Ohio — Linda Gaye Cales Bowyer, 60, a native of Oak Hill, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at the Renaissance, Olmsted Township, Ohio.

Linda graduated from Collins High School in Oak Hill in 1963. She moved to Columbia Station, Ohio, in 1969, then Berea in 1972.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth F. Bowyer, whom she married Oct. 20, 1966; her children, Douglas M. Burgess II and wife, Jennifer, of Elyria, Ohio, Carmen I. Thomas of Brook Park, Ohio, Toby L. Bowyer of Berea and Myra L. Bowyer of Medina, Ohio; and grandchildren, Blake Bowyer, Tyler and Emily Thomas, Casey Glem, Nicole and Dylan Bowyer, and Danny Burgess. She was the sister to Jean Dotson of Culloden, Ronald Cales of Casper, Wyo., Nancy Treadway of Oak Hill and Barbara Backus of Oak Hill.
