RAPID CITY, S.D. — Carl Prince, 53, of Rapid City, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Carl was born on September 17, 1959, to the late Charles Alvis and Vada Stumbo Prince in Huntington, WV. Carl grew up in Pettus, WV, where he made many childhood friends. He was a graduate of Marsh Fork High School, where he was well known for completing his brother’s homework, and a manager for the football team. After high school Carl worked with the Whitesville Fire Department EMT Squad while completing Nursing school. He then graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Huntington, WV, and has a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Sacramento Regent University. Carl was quite accomplished in the health care field. He worked as an Emergency Room Nurse, flew with Health Net, an EMT, a Director of Nurses, a Nurse Consultant, a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, a Long Term Care Surveyor, and most of all a patient advocate. Carl had made his home recently in Rapid City, South Dakota, to be close to his brother Gary.
Those left with many special memories of Carl are his two children, Garret Prince and Amanda Prince of Beckley, WV; a granddaughter, Skyler, also of Beckley; a sister, Darlene Cline and her husband Danny of Conway, SC; and a brother Gary and his wife Marquita Prince of Rapid City, SD; nephews Jamie Brown, Charles Brown, Aaron Prince, and Wes Turner; and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and Friends.
Carl will be cremated per his wishes. A Memorial Visitation with his family present will be held May 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Pine View Cemetery Chapel in Orgas, WV.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Carl’s honor may be made to the Nursing Scholarship Fund at St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation, 2900 First Ave., Huntington, WV 25702.
