Virgil D. Cochran Sr.
Virgil D. Cochran Sr., 74, of Cool Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his home following a long, hard battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born on June 2, 1938, in Lester, to the late Clint Samuel and Pearly Mae “Meadows” Cochran.
Virgil was a Christian and a member of Cool Ridge Community Church and lived most of his life in Cool Ridge.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Virgil “Dee Cee” Cochran III; son-in-law, Jack DuFour; stepgrandson, David DuFour; brothers, Freeman, Gorden, Ray, and Earnest Cochran; sisters, Annie McKinney and Delta Basham.
Those surviving include his loving wife of 53 years, Mrs. Mary Katheryn (Allen) Cochran; sons, Dewey Cochran and wife Rita, and Clinton Cochran and wife Amy; daughters, Frieda DuFour, Alberta Meadows and husband Eddie, and Carla Cochran; four grandsons, Justin Bragg and wife Megan, Timothy “T.W.” Bryant and wife Brittany, Cody Cochran, and Donald DuFour; four granddaughters, Chairty Bragg, Shenandoah DeShaffer and husband Jeff, SaCeila Cochran, and Alisia Shrewsberry and husband Paris; great-granddaughter, Chole Bragg; sister, Dorothy Lehew; and brother Woodrow Cochran.
Services to celebrate the life of Virgil Cochran will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel, with Rev. David Wilson officiating.
In keeping with Virgil’s final wishes he will be cremated after the services.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel on the same afternoon.
