Roberta Corrine Brown

WHITESVILLE — Roberta Corrine Brown, 83, of Whitesville, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, with the Rev. Janice Florence officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineview Cemetery at Orgas.

Roy Cline

On Saturday, May 4th, 2013, Roy Cline of Cabell Heights passed away in a Charleston hospital following a long illness. He was in his 83rd year.

One of eight children, Roy was born at War Eagle on Feb. 27th, 1930. He was the son of the late Howard and Bessie Cline. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Roy first worked in the mining industry at Colliers Coal Company, War Eagle. He then entered the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. A Corporal, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Army of Occupation Medal and the Japan Clasp, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with the Silver Star Attachment, Combat Medical Badge, 1st Award, and the United Nations Service Medal.

After his stint in service, Roy worked at the Veterans Area Medical Center in Beckley for over 30 years. He was the head technician of the Hemodialysis Unit. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes.

Roy leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Hazel; his children, Sheena Prentice and her husband, Doug, of Beckley, Roy Aaron Cline and his wife, Jennifer, of Cool Ridge and Anthony Cline of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Autumn Reid and her husband, Doug, of Charlotte, NC, Aaron Cline and his wife, Brandi, of Beaver, Andrew Cline of Huntington and Aimee Cline of Beckley; a granddaughter, Alicia Cline, has preceded him in death; there is one great-grandchild, George Reid of Charlotte.

On Saturday, May 11th, at 2 p.m. there will be a “Celebration of Roy’s Life” at the Mabscott Holiness Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
