Virgil Lee Sheppard
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Mr. Virgil Lee Sheppard, 66, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born June 2, 1946 in Holden, W.Va., to John Ed and Bersheba Vance Sheppard Sr.
Mr Sheppard served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Micro Fibers in Winston-Salem after 17 years of service.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister Ellen Estep Blakenship; brothers, Tom Estep, George Estep, Lewis Sheppard Sr., and John Ed Sheppard II.
Surviving is his loving wife of 18 years, Rhonda Oldham Sheppard; two daughters, Renae Pennington and husband Greg, and Jenny Belcher and husband James, of Clearfork, W.Va.; one step-daughter, Ashley Rainville and husband Marc of Tobaccoville, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Dulcie of Marianna, W.Va., Elizabeth Collins and husband Lee of Van, W.Va., Mary Beth Woodall, and Mary Ann Collins; four grandsons; one great-grandson; cousin, Rhodes Vance; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, in Wallburg, N.C., with the Rev. Cliff Willis, Dean Bullins, and Mat Dulcie officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Janet Stovall, 82, of Hilltop Center, formerly of Sophia, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House.
Born November 6, 1930, at MacAlpine, to the late Wiley Casey Jones and the late Clara Francis Blevins Jones.
Janet loved traveling and exercising. She was a member of the Sophia Freewill Baptist Church. She was a former department manager with Montgomery Ward and a volunteer at Total Image Salon.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jack E. Stovall Sr.; daughter, Tammy Lynn; granddaughter, April Dawn; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving three sons, Jack Stovall Jr. and wife, Pamela of Sophia, Gregory Stovall and wife, Jan of Beckley, and Jeffery A. Stovall and wife, Michelle of North Carolina; two granddaughters, Cheryl of Fayetteville and Elizabeth Prajapati and husband, Raj; grandson, Travis; two great grandchildren, Chayla and Chad Keeney Jr.; two special buddies Nathan and A.J. Easley; and several brothers and sisters. She will be greatly missed by her family and her extended family at Hilltop Center.
Pallbearers will include Raj Prajapati, Stephen Clay, Tommy Small, Carlile Moye, Marvin Spicer Jr., and Jerry Phillips.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Sophia, with Pastor Donnie Kelly officiating. Following the services, Janet will be laid to rest at the Ross Family Cemetery, Flat Top.
Friends may gather with the family from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
