Angela Louise Hunt Bryson

Angela Louise Hunt Bryson, 48, of Tolleytown, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013. Born September 29, 1964, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Harry Eugene and Bessie Gray Hunt of Tolleytown. Angela was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.

In addition to her parents she is survived by daughters, Jerica Adkins and husband Anthony of SC, Tasha Davis and husband Dustin and Larkrista Bryson of Tolleytown; granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Davis of Tolleytown; sisters, Kimberly Hunt, Veronica Hunt and boyfriend Timmy, Elizabeth Hunt, Crystal Davis and husband Paul Michael, Shamekia Hunt; brothers, Jeffrey Hunt and Joseph Hunt; nieces and nephews, Toni, Trinity, Emily and Michael.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray Family Cemetery at Tolleytown. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Hunt, Jeffrey Hunt, Paul Michael Davis, Dustin Davis, Timmy Torrence, Wayne Turner and Steve Gray.

Jack Scragg Guy

MAPLE FORK — Jack Scragg Guy, 80, of Maple Fork, a born again Christian, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2013.

Born August 22, 1932, at Glen Rogers to the late Benjamin M. Guy, Jr., and the late Dorothy McCrobie Stover Guy. Jack was also preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin M.  Guy, III.

Jack was a 1951 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, served our country proudly in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He was an aircraft and engine mechanic. He was a Korean Conflict Veteran and proud member of the WV Army National Guard for 23 years. He graduated from the Raleigh County Vocational School Nursing Program, Morris Harvey College, as well as an additional year of graduate studies. He worked for Piedmont Airlines and as an LPN at BARH. He was instrumental in assisting Jackie Withrow with the startup of the FMRS Health program in the late 1960s. He retired from the VAMC as a drug and alcohol counselor. He attended the United Methodist Temple.

He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. During his lifetime he enjoyed varied interests including HAM Radio. Jack was an avid reader, history buff, and firearms expert. He was truly a “Jack” of all trades.

His family dearly loved him and depended on him for advice and knowledge. Jack appreciated the friendship, care, and love provided by his stepdaughter, Mary McClanahan, sister-in-law, Virginia Stover, and Sandy Harper from the VAMC who nourished him back to health time and time again.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Cinda Stover Guy; brother, Richard L. Guy; sons, Kim and wife, Donna, Eric and Matthew Guy; daughter, Minda Belden and husband, Silas, stepdaughters he helped rear since the ages of 2 and 5 and considered his own, Becky Spann and husband, Aaron, and Mary McClanahan and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Katie Molloy, Jackie Cline, Amanda Guy, Christopher Guy- Belden, Savannah, Megan, and Emelia Belden; stepgrandchildren he also considered his own, Austin and Amber Spann and Lauryn and Caleb McClanahan; great-granddaughter, Raelyn Cline; and his beloved dog, Obie.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Chuck Pullin officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial  Gardens, Beckley. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family from noon until time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charlotte Ann Helmick

COTTLE — Charlotte Ann Helmick, 69, of Cottle, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the White Funeral Home at Craigsville with the Rev. David Terry officiating. Interment will follow in the Woods Family Cemetery at Morris. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



Etta A. Kerzic

Etta Agnes Kerzic died early Sunday morning, January 6, 2013, at the age of 91.

She was born in Rock, WV, on May 30, 1921.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings. Her husband, John, died in October of 1999.

Mrs. Kerzic was survived by her three children, John (Pat) of MacArthur, Joe (Debbie) of Waldorf, MD, and Gracie Hook (Larry) of Lake City, SC; a stepdaughter, Brenda of Woodbridge, VA; five grandchildren, Karen, Matthew, Melissa, Joey, and Jennifer; five great-grandchildren, Dorothy, Timothy, Lewis, Brittany, and Jordan; and by many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Park, Chapel B, 1825 Harper Road, Beckley. Burial will immediately follow.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at Sunset Memorial Park, Chapel B.

Lewis Lilly, 51, of Beckley, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.

Beverly Catherine Martin McKinney

BARBOURSVILLE — Beverly Catherine Martin McKinney, 64, of Barboursville, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Fellowship Baptist Church, by Dr. Jerry Warren. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

She was born December 10, 1948, in Grandview, WV, a daughter of the late Donald K. and Betty C. Wright Martin.

Beverly was a graduate of Marshall University, a member of the Tri State Art Association, a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church, and an employee of Marshall University, Department of Music and Theatre.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby L. McKinney; two daughters, Debra K McKinney Moon and her husband Mike, of East Lynn, WV, and Alicia R. McKinney Sauls and her husband, Ron, of Beckley; one son, Brian McKinney of Barboursville; two brothers, John Martin and his wife Evelyn, of Hurricane, and David K. Martin and his companion, Judi Sachs of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Michael Moon, Devan McKinney, Adrian Sauls, and Jeremy Sauls.

Clinton Roosevelt Merritt

OAK HILL — Clinton Roosevelt Merritt, 77, of Oak Hill passed away Friday, January 4,  2013, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born February 24, 1935, at Raleigh, North Carolina, the son of the late Luther Merritt and Queen Elizabeth Mills Merritt.

Besides his parents, Clinton was preceded in death by the love of his life Linda Merritt who passed away January of 2006.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Clinetra Merritt Pannell and husband William of Beckley, grandchildren Kanille Pannell, Keshawn Pannell, Kamya Pannell, and Katyra Pannell.

His remains rest at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main St., Oak Hill, Where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Brian Freeman officiating and where the family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in High Lawn Memorial  Park.

PETERSTOWN — Martha Anne Morgan, 74, of Peterstown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.

Lesta Mae ‘Sis’ Roberts

LEIVASY — Lesta Mae (Sis) Roberts, 83, passed away Saturday evening, January 5, 2013, in Summersville Regional Medical Center, following a short illness.

Born November 17, 1929, at Quinwood, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lacy and IO McClung Trout.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ellis Roberts; 2 sons, Brian Keith and Bern Lee Roberts; 3 brothers, Landis, Donald, and Lendon Trout.

She was a member of Victory Chapel Church of Leivasy, and was a homemaker. She loved all her grandchildren, and she recently had her first great-grandchild, “Carter Jeffrey Long,” whom she made the trip to Ohio to meet.

Survivors include 4 daughters: Bela Ann Jones (Eddie) of Leivasy, WV, Kay Roberts of Leivasy, WV, Beth Stewart of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Robin Roberts of Leivasy, WV; 4 sons: Bruce Roberts (Kim) of Nettie, WV, Dana Roberts (Penny) of Mount Nebo, WV, Bo Roberts of Leivasy, WV, Bob Trout of Leivasy; 1 sister: Cheryl Boggs (Conard) of Rainelle, WV; 5 grandchildren: Kelli, Jimmy Lee, Alex, Anna, and Garrett; 1 great-grandchild: Carter Jeffrey Long; 5 stepgrandchildren: Makayla, Laci, Landan, Terry, and Edward; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Mtn. Baptist Church at Carl, West Virginia, with Pastor Dave Acree officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to Dr. David P. Allen and his staff of Rainelle, as well as the staff of Summersville Regional Medical Center.

Brent Arthur Romanello

FOREST HILL — Brent Arthur Romanello, 37, of Forest Hill entered into peaceful rest with our Lord, Saturday, January 5, 2013, following injuries from a car accident.

Born October 15, 1975, in Cleveland, OH. He was a son of the late Carol Burnice Meadows Romanello and Cecil A. Romanello of Forest Hill.

Brent was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and was a 1994 graduate of Hinton High School. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the outdoors.

Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by one son, Brian Christopher Romanello; one sister, Patricia Kaye Romanello; paternal grandparents, Julian and Lockie Graham Romanello; maternal grandparents, Dallas and Goldie Bragg Meadows.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his children, Lily Kaye Romanello, Hannah Romanello, Brent Romanello, Jr., Jacob Romanello and Katherine Tharp; two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Romanello of Martinsburg and Carol Romanello Horney and husband Sonny of Peterstown; one brother, Anthony “Tony” Romanello and wife Tommi Lynn of Forest Hill; nieces and nephews, Jeffery Wysocki, Trent Wysocki and wife Cathy, Allison Stur, Justin Romanello and wife Amber, Matthew Romanello, Savannah Horney, Nicholas Horney, Avery Romanello and Laken Romanello; great-niece and nephews, Cora, Connor and Trestyn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Friendship Baptist Church in Forest Hill with Pastor Joe Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park near Hinton. Friends may call from 6 to 9 on Wednesday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Mr. Walter Woodson Jr., of East Stroudsburg, Pa., formerly of Newark, N.J., died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.
