James William McAllister

OAK HILL — James William McAllister, 78, of Oak Hill, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

Mr. McAllister was cremated. There will be no visitation or service.

Edna ‘Tiny’ McKinney

Edna Marie "Tiny" McKinney, 79, of Barkers Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at her residence, following a short illness.

Austin L. McMillion Sr.

HURRICANE — Austin L. McMillion Sr. of Hurricane, formerly of Clintonville, went to be with his Lord while surrounded by his family on Monday, December 31, 2012, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, following a short illness.

Born Saturday October 9, 1943, at Esty, W.Va. He was the son of the late L. D. and Nina Lowe McMillion and the grandson of the late Ester McMillion.

He was preceded in death by his Father-in-Law (Dad) Marvin Osborne in 1994.

Austin was a member of the James Chapel United Methodist Church in Clintonville. He was a licensed Master Electrician working over 45 years in the coal mining industry as electrician, chief electrician and maintenance foreman in Greenbrier, Raleigh and Boone Counties. He retired in May 2012. He loved spending time with his family, working in his vegetable and flower gardens, and taking care of his fruit trees and shrubbery. He also loved to fish and hunt, and he enjoyed watching baseball, football, and NASCAR.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 50 years, Karen Sue (Osborne) McMillion; son, Austin, Jr. and his wife Julie of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Christi Black of Barboursville, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Ethan Black of Barboursville and Olivia McMillion of Morgantown; Mother-in-Law Zelma Osborne (Mom) of White Sulphur Springs Family Care Center; many friends and family pets.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 5, 2013, from 11 a.m. to  1 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Jay Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.

Pallbeareers will be Pete Piercy, Bill Robinson Jr. Crane, Frank Hampton, Neil Holliday, Butch Robertson, David Sykes, Earl Tuckwiller and Eugene Wickline.

James H. Miller

On Monday, New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31st, 2012, our most cherished, James Hubert Miller,  of Mankin Avenue, Beckley, died at 6:30 a.m., following a long illness, at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was in his 89th year.

Born November 16, 1923, at Orchard, Monroe County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Opha Everette and Tressa Miller, also of Beckley.

Mr. Miller was Business Manager of Beckley Medical Arts Clinic from its inception in 1954 to his retirement in 1989. He attended Bowling Green College in Bowling Green, Ky.  and proudly served in the US Army Infantry in World War II during campaigns in New Guinea and The Philippines where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

He was an active member of Beckley Regular Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Trustee, and Sunday School Teacher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Kelly Thompson.

James leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 67 years, Frances Bostick Miller of Beckley; he was the dear father of sons, James Terry Miller, and his wife, Donna of Daniels and David Lewis Miller of Beckley; the fond “Grandpa” of Bryan Miller of Huntersville, N.C. and Jeff Miller and his wife Tiffany of Beckley, and the proud great grandfather Clara Emerson Miller of Beckley.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 4th at 1 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel.  Pastor Steven Beverly will be officiating. James will be laid to rest in the Hurt Trail Cemetery within the Blue Ridge Gardens at Prosperity.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
