HARTSVILLE, SC — Rose Mary Cappellari, 92, died Dec. 23, 2012, at home. Funeral services will be held Friday, December, 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Westview Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum and reception will be held in Fellowship Hall at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was born Oct. 25, 1920, daughter of Adelaide and Albino Benvenuto. She graduated from W.Va. University in 1942 with a degree in Business Administration. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years Amerigo; sister, Anita; brother, Alfred Benvenuto; grandson, Mark Spica. Surviving are her by six children, Aurelia Smith (Richard) Mary Margaret Spica, Richard Cappellari (Alana) Anita Deen (Fred), Dr. Charles Cappellari (Frankie), David Cappellari (Cindy); 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. She moved to Hartsville in 2001 with her daughter, Aurelia Smith. Rose Mary’s philanthropic works were received by many throughout her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by her beloved caregiver, Tessie, and devoted friend, Margaret. A special thanks to Rae Woods and the Hospice Team of South Carolina and the many friends and neighbors who showed her their love and support.

Wanda John Cooper
PINEVILLE — Wanda John Cooper, 95, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, following a short illness. She was surrounded by her loving family, at the home of her daughter, Debra Dalton.
Born March 25, 1917 in Baileysville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Gore and Lettie Shields Brooks.
Wanda was a member of Rockcastle Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed helping her daughter at Lackey’s Ashland Marathon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Estill C. Cooper; a son, Michael Joe Cooper; two step-sons, Merill T. Cooper and Ronald Lee Cooper; one step-daughter, Loveda McGuire; one sister, Hilda McClellan; and one brother, Doris K. Shields.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Katherine “Kat” Brown of Fairdale and Debra Dalton and husband, Bobby, of Pineville; seven grandchildren, Wesley J. Brown, Jr., Pamela E. Allard, Jere Lee Brown, Michael (Zac) Cooper, Jon Caleb Cooper, Katie Jo Cooper, and Michelle Lackey King; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Rockcastle Baptist Church, with the Rev. Evan Arkell and Rev. Donald “Doc” Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville.
Wesley J. Brown, Jr., Jere Brown, Zac Cooper, Caleb Cooper, Al Allard, and Matthew King will serve as pallbearers.
A special thank you to her loving granddaughter, Michelle Lackey King for all the help that she gave her mother, Debra Dalton, in caring for her grandmother.

James Thomas ‘JT’ Crawford
MARTYVILLE, Tenn. — James Thomas “JT” Crawford, 75, of Maryville, Tenn, formerly of Beckley, W. Va. & Sterling Heights, Mich., passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
He and his wife Carolyn were happily married for 25 years. J T was a deacon & long time member of Victory Baptist Church of Maryville, Tenn., and served from 1959-1966 in the first squadron onboard the nuclear powered U.S. Enterprise, the world’s largest carrier at the time. His recent trip of a lifetime was spent with his son, Tom, at the decommissioning of the carrier in Virginia. JT was an avid soldier for the Lord Jesus Christ, spending time with children in Awana’s, teacher of small age groups, adult groups, led Bible studies and ardent church supporter. His heart’s desire was to serve the prison ministry, active in the Anderson County Solway Prison ministry, Blount County Jail ministry, Florida and Kentucky. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Uncle to his many nieces and nephews and many young people, he “adopted” along his journey. J T never saw strangers, just friends he hadn’t met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Nora Crawford; wife, Sandra Williams Crawford; infant sister, Camelia & brother, Roger Crawford, all of Beckley W.Va.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn S. Lucile McClung Dickson
Lucile M. Dickson died Dec. 21, 2012 at CareChoice Nursing and Rehab in Boerne, Texas, on December 21 of complications following a stroke. She was 94 years old.
Lucile was born in Zenith, West Virginia, the daughter of H. O. McClung and Sadie Miller McClung. She married Ernest Lionel Dickson in 1946 and is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Ware of Bogart, Ga.; children, Becky Dickson Eterno of Boerne, Texas, and Wendell E. Dickson of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Teresa Eterno Lehtinen and John L. Eterno; great-granddaughter, Mia Grace Lehtinen, all of Arvada, Colo.
Lucile was an elementary school teacher for over 40 years in West Virginia and Bellefontaine, Ohio, and alumna of Concord College (Now Concord University), Athens, W,Va.
A Graveside Service is planned for Friday morning, December 28, at 11 a.m. at Crozier Cemetery, Zenith, W.Va. Vaughan’s Funeral Home is handling arrangements in Texas and Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home of Union is handling arrangements in West Virginia.

Jane Alice Shirey Emfinger
HINTON — Jane Alice Shirey Emfinger, 89, of Hinton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012.
She was born on June 6, 1923, in Hinton, to the late Emmett and Claire Willey Shirey. Jane was a graduate of Talcott High School. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church but has been a faithful attendee of Bellepoint Baptist Church for many years.
Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Leon Eugene Emfinger. During their life together, they lived in several different states and made many lasting friendships along the way. She was a devoted wife and aunt and enjoyed spending her time tending her beautiful flowers. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family.
Jane was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers; Dwight, Richard, and Robert Shirey; four sisters, Ruth Deeds, Margaret Shirey, Willie Jo Cales, and Claire Grorud.
Jane is survived by Judy and Billy Parker, Jerry and Linda Ingram, Bob and Carolyn Deeds and Larry and Phyllis Deeds, Ed and Nancy Cales, Barry and Sharon Cales, Randy and Betty Cales, and John and Lynne Cales, Larry and Sue Shirey, Donna and Tracy Beamon, and Tracy and Gerald Lovley. Several great nieces and nephews and one brother-in-law, Charles Cales, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastors David Board and Larry Deeds officiating. Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors an hour prior to services. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Born June 18, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of Margaret Louise Harrah Shelton of Alderson, West Virginia and the late Forrest Henry Shelton. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna “Joanne” Shelton Smith; and a great-nephew, Timothy Shelton Kling.
Ms. Shelton is survived by her mother, Margaret Louise Harrah Shelton of Alderson, West Virginia; three sisters, Carol Godby of Beckley, West Virginia, Anita Russell of Sacramento, California, and Linda Housel of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; four nieces; six great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, West Virginia with the Rev. Sam Groves officiating. Friends may call Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, West Virginia.
