FAYETTEVILLE — Minnie Edna Baker

Minnie Edna Baker, 97, of Beckley, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 17, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late E. Hiram and Mandy Whitt Rinehart.

Mrs. Baker was born on March 20, 1916, at Mullens, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bernice F. Baker, a son, Roger Baker, and by brothers and sisters, Ranzie Sizemore, Laura McComas, Edward Rinehart, Virgie Rinehart, Vescar Rinehart, John Rinehart, Nina Martin, Aimee Rinehart, Pansy Mason, Anna Campbell, Cora Whitt, Pearl Whitt, and Nettie Whitt.

Mrs. Baker was a homemaker, and a member of the Beckley Regular Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Karen Bouchard and her husband Paul of Wilmington, NC; Patsy Caudill and her husband Jimmy of Beckley; daughter-in-law Judy Baker of Benton, Arkansas, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Friday June 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Steven Beverly and assisted by Wesley Fondale of the Beckley Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until service time on Friday. 

The family extends special thanks to her caregiver of seven years, Lois Megimose, and to the Hospice of Southern WV, along with the Bowers Hospice House for their excellent care.

Ruth Ann Duff

GARY — Ruth Ann Duff, 68, of Gary, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gary.

Born June 19, 1944, in Hemphill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Willie Hearl Duff of the Hemphill, Welch, and Premier areas.

She was a resident of the Welch area the greater part of her life; and she attended the Premier Methodist Church when she was able.

Preceded in death by in addition to her parents, four brothers and two sisters

Survivors include one brother, Allen Duff, of Martinsville, Va.; four sisters, Bonnie Lester and husband Junior of Hemphill, Audrey Marcum of Stephenson, Betty Evans of Manassas Park, Va.; and Elizabeth “Libby” Woolridge and husband Lincoln of Fort Mill, S.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 21, 2013, at noon from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch. Burial will follow at Iaeger Memorial Cemetery, Roderfield W.Va.

Friends may call 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Alex G. Foster, 57, of Phoenix, formerly of Northfolk, W.Va., passed away on June 12, 2013.

Laicee Nicole Lynn Gates                                                                                                                           Laicee Nicole Lynn Gates, two months and two weeks old, passed away June 15, 2013.

A celebration of Laicee’s life will be held at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Morris Nutter officiating on Friday, June 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

MOUNT HOPE — Keith Andrew Williams, 52, of Mount Hope, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley.

Mildred Ann ‘Midge’ Woolwine

“When I’ve gone the last mile of the way I will rest at the close of the day.”

Mildred Ann Woolwine (Midge) 84 of Midway, departed lifes journey to receive her mansion in heaven on Monday, June 17, 2013.

Born in Anjean, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Elisha and Maude Puckett. She was the devoted wife of the late Ernest Woolwine Sr.

Preceding her in death was a son Donnie Gene, a granddaughter Christina Marie Glenn, a grandson Jason Michael Woolwine, her sisters Peggy, Margaret and Helen and a brother Tom. 

Her passion in life was to serve the Lord. She worshiped at House of Prayer in Sophia. Her favorite hobby was quilting.

We were blessed to call her our mother. Children remaining to cherish her memories are: Carolyn Gosnell of Pemberton, Buck and Linda Woolwine of Coal City, Frankie and Sharon Woolwine of Coal City, Alice and Tommy Deweese of Midway, Randall and Rita Woolwine of Lexington, N.C., Kenny and Tammy Woolwine of Ocean Isle, N.C., Nancy and  Ronnie Sturgill of Beaver, Timmy and  Robin Woolwine of Oak Hill, Eugene and   Leslie Woolwine of Pemberton, Rosie and  Allen Sturgill of Beaver, Tina and Devon Lane of Stephenson, 32 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. Surviving also is a very dear sister Katheryn Moomaw, and brothers Danny and Buddy Puckett.

In keeping with her wishes friends and family are welcome to attend her homegoing service which will be held Wednesday, June 19 at 6 p.m. at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel on S. Kanawha Street. The service will be conducted by her son Kenny with songs by her sons Buck and Frank. She will be carried to her final resting place at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by her grandsons: Jamie, Ernie, Dwayne, TJ, Lee, Allen, Lil’ Joey and Corey.

We as Mildred’s children would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful sister Alice and her husband Tommy whom took excellent care of our mother. We would also like to say a special thanks to Dr. Golden for his care and  compassion through the years.
