Mr. Earl “Tricky” Baker, of New Britain, Conn., formerly of Rhodell, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in New Britain.

Jean Ann Redden Crisp
Jean Ann Redden Crisp, age 74 of Shady Spring, departed this world and entered Heaven free from pain and suffering on Friday, June 14, 2013 from a sudden illness.
Mom lived most of her life on Pluto Road in Shady Spring, where she was a homemaker and a mother of four children. She had a very giving heart and enjoyed listening to her radio, watching television and always cleaning her home.
Mom was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie G. Penturff Redden, her father Delbert K. Redden, by a granddaughter Amber Lee Ann Radford.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Danny Redden and his wife Beverley of Shady Spring, her sister, Della Mae Bennett and her husband Randy of Mt. Nebo, W.Va. Her children: Debbie Collins and her husband Everette of Cool Ridge, Beckie Meador of Cool Ridge, Tammy Radford and her husband Richard of Daniels, and Frankie Crisp and his wife Cindy of Cool Ridge. Grandchildren: Matthew Meador, Jesse Meador, Hollie Meador, Crystal Allen, Michelle Black, Seth Radford, Kristi Radford, and Isabella Tolliver. Great-grandchildren: Erica, Kayla, Justin, Kenzie, Maranda, Sydney, Audrey, Ridge, Joseph, and Madelyn. A great great granddaughter, Aubrey.
Our mother was born on February 14, 1939 at Beaver, W.Va. She will always live in our heart and mind.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Monday June 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Rodney Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.
Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Everette Collins, Matthew Meador, Jesse Meador, Frankie Crisp, Richard Radford, Seth Radford, and Donald Richmond.

Deacon Melvin Ray Greene
Deacon Melvin Ray Greene, 62, of Stanaford, died Thursday, June 13, 2013.
Born September 1, 1950 in Layland, W.Va., he was the son of the late Beatrice and Morris Greene Sr.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, PawPaw, and brother; a coal miner by profession and retired after 21 years due to a mine injury and was a faithful member and ordained deacon of New Era Baptist Church, Stanford, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Tyler, Maxine Greene, Lois Legrand, and Darlene Peck; brothers, Morris, William and James.
Those left to cherish precious memories are his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Hazel Ricardo Greene; daughters, Alisha Knight and Sheryl (Marvin) Hoover, both of Stanaford, W.Va., and Stephanie (Ralph) Robinson of Yorktown, Va.; grandchildren, CJ Knight, Taylor James, Kayla Robinson, Sydney Hoover and Alexander Robinson; sisters, Lillian Banks of Stanford, and Mary Ellen Beasley of Bronx, N.Y.; special nieces, Tammy and Shawna Beasley; special family friends, George Smith and Joe Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Walter Fred Helvey Sr.
HOLLYWOOD — Walter Fred Helvey Sr., 83 of Hollywood, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Greenbrier Valley Hospital in Fairlea following a long illness.
He was born at Hollywood, March 15, 1930 a son of the late Jesse Thomas and Elizabeth Hoke Helvey.
Mr. Helvey was a retired electronics engineer, a member of the Bruffey’s Memorial United Methodist Church at Hollywood, a member of the Civitan Club in Mauldin, SC and a veteran of the US Army having served in the 82nd Airborne.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Leonard, Woodrow, Frank and Wade Helvey; six sisters, Ruby Nickell, Ruth Davidson, Maggie Glover, Gladys Bland, Gertrude Martin and Nellie Davidson.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years; Constance Ann “Connie” Bostic Helvey of Hollywood; six sons, Walter F. “Wally” Helvey Jr. and wife, Deborah of Gap Mills, Gregory Charles Helvey and wife, Tracy of Simpsonville, S.C., Vernon Henry Helvey and wife, Joy of Easley, S.C., Michael Alan Helvey and wife, Michelle of Mooresville, N.C., Jeffery Clark Helvey of Simpsonville, S.C., Jesse Edward Helvey and wife, Lisa of Greenville, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Joy, Zachary, Katherine, Jacob, Aidan, Megan, Evan, Brooks and Woody; four brothers and sisters, Cindy Howard of Organ Cave, Virgil Helvey of Sinks Grove, Clayton Helvey of Roanoke and Dave Helvey of Wanatchee, Wash.

OAK HILL — Nancy Faye Thomas, 61, of Oak Hill, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital.
Born November 17, 1951 at Oak Hill, the daughter of William Ernest Rhodes and the late Marcelline Maxine Mullins Rhodes.
Nancy attended the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by a sister Pamela Rhodes.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband James Edward “Roscoe” Thomas III, one daughter Shannon Dixon and husband Jason of Oak Hill, and one son James “Hard Rock” Thomas and wife Stacy of Oak Hill; two sisters Barbara Bell and husband Teddy of Oak Hill, and Peggy Davis of Beckley; and eight grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alexis, Brianna, Abbie, Katelynn, Brenna, Logan, and Skyler.
Her remains rest at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, where the funeral will be held 1 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Virgil Herron officiating, and where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park.
