Roger Lynn Baxter

PAX — Roger Lynn Baxter, 46, of Pax, died on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Born July 10, 1966, at Petersburg, Va., he was the son of Loraine Wriston Baxter of Pax, and the late Leonard Edward Baxter.

He was a heavy equipment operator.

His paternal grandparents, Lula and Raymond Baxter, and maternal grandparents, Clara and Albert Wriston, preceded him in death.

In addition to his mother, Roger is survived by his wife, Georgetta Kay Walker Baxter, sister, Venesa Addington and husband, David, of Pax, two brothers, Teddy Baxter and wife, Ellie, of Scarbro and Charles Baxter of Staunton, Va., five nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Willis Branch Community Church, with Rev. Jerry Tyree officiating. Burial will be at Pax Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Willis Branch Community Church on Saturday, November 17, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Irene G. Callahan

SUMMERSVILLE — Irene G. Callahan, 88, of Summersville, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in the White Funeral Home, Summersville, with the Rev. John McKee officiating. Interment will be in the WV Memorial Gardens at Calvin. Friends may call one hour prior to the services Sunday at the funeral home.

FOREST HILL — Dorman O’Dell Crawford, 84, of Forest Hill, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.

Delano Dennis Dean

Delano Dennis Dean, age 71, of Beckley, son of the late John Taylor Dean and Daisy Abrams Dean, was born at Hazy, on October 25, 1941, and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 16, 2012.

Mr. Dean served in the U.S. Air Force, worked 29 years as a coal miner with Eastern Associated Coal, Harris #1, and 7 years with RCCAA after his retirement with the coal mines. He was a trustee, teacher, and helper at the Glen Fork Church of God and a servant of God The Father and His Son, Yeshua, since 1975.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Noah, Keith, Lawrence, Cleo, Dorothy, and Thelma.

Those of his family left here on earth are his wife, Patricia, of over 47 years, His daughter, Jennifer and her husband Steve Stover, granddaughters Louressia Nichole Flowers and Samatha Lynn Smith, and great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Jean Bush, all of Crab Orchard. A sister, Diane and her husband Dess Massey of Lincoln, Arkansas, and nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Junior and Sue Kyle of Moorefield, WV, and Donnie and Karen Bunch of Fairdale, WV.

Mr. Dean invites everyone to his Going Home Party. Come celebrate with us at the Glen Fork Church of God on Monday, November 19, 2012, with Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating. The wake will be from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, with the Going Home Party beginning at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV, or to the Glen Fork Church of God Love In Action.

Pallbearers will be men of the church, along with Steve Stover and Ronnie Williams.

Graveside Rites and Burial will follow on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Augustine Virginia Phelps

Heaven received another Angel on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, when Augustine Virginia Phelps passed away at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born on August 17, 1950, at Philippi, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ison Phelps and Vernie Shomo Phelps.

Augie, as she was affectionately known by her family, was a homemaker, and had lived most of her life at Flemington, W.Va. She had made her home in Beckley since 1999. Augie enjoyed her plants, and her dogs, Lil Bit, Angelique, and Sasha.

Survivors include her children, Robert Phelps and his fiancée Leigh Ann Persinger of Beckley, and Hellen Shreve of Daniels. Her former son-in-law, Joseph Shreve Sr. of Beaver. Grandchildren: Ryan Phelps, Sean Phelps, Cpl. Joseph Shreve Jr., Ashleigh Shreve, Carrie Bland, Haileigh Persinger, Koalton Persinger, and Braxton Phelps. A brother, Sherman Phelps of Danville, Va.; three sisters, Betty Jackson Phelps of Lake Mack, Fla., Roseann Carts of St. Petersburg, Fla., Stella Forinash and her husband Ken of Martinsville, Va.; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life Of Augustine Phelps on Sunday,  November 18, 2012, at 3 p.m., at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel, with Rev. Gary Devart officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

HINTON — Anna Ruth Pivont, 100, of Hinton, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.

Earl Conrad Walton

LEWISBURG — Earl Conrad Walton, 73, of Lewisburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at his home.

Born Aug. 12, 1939, at Renick, he was the son of the late Edward Alpine and Edna Catherine Halterman Walton.

Earl was a graduate of Renick High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command. For seventeen years he was a paper carrier for the Charleston Daily Mail; and attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Eldon, Larry, and Henry Walton.

Earl is survived by one brother, Don Walton of Maxwelton; sisters, Helen McMillion of Frankford, Phyllis Miller of Lewisburg, Juanita Dineen and Dick of White Sulphur Springs, and Sue Walton Wyman and John of Lewisburg; sister-in-law, Joyce Walton; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends at the Cornerstone IGA who were always looking out for him.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with the Rev. Ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Morningside Cemetery at Renick.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the funeral home.
