Wayne Theodore Ramsey

Wayne Theodore Ramsey, 62, of Daniels, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013.

Committal services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Burial will follow at the cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel.

Roger L. Weis

Roger L. Weis, 64, of Glen Daniel, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2013.

Born July 15, 1948, he was the son of Clarence and Rushie Irene Weis.

In addition to his parents, Roger is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Ann Weis.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Darlene Lilly Weis of Glen Daniel; son, Scott Weis of FL; stepdaughter, Robin Strader and husband Clifford of Summersville; brothers, Jimmy Weis and wife Teresa of Mullens, Randy Weis and wife Victoria; sisters, Carolyn Cox and husband Paul of DE, Barbara of NC; grandson, Devon Weis of Charleston, WV; and granddaughter, Lauren Weis of Charleston, WV.

Roger loved his three dogs dearly, Brownie, Blackie and Falcor; he loved WVU Football. Roger worked in the coal mines for 35 years.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Rev. Jimmie Weis officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Friends may gather with the family Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Mae Whitehead

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Whitehead, 84, of Beckley, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House following an extended illness, with her devoted husband by her side.

Born November 19, 1928, in Osaka, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Sally Thompson Atkins.

Dorothy worked various jobs, but her greatest achievement was her 20-plus years with Raleigh County Headstart. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church and also served on the Mothers’ Ministry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Atkins and Robert Mitchell, and daughter, Paulette Whitehead Ross.

Left to cherish precious memories are her husband of 59 years, William “Inky” Whitehead; two sons, Charles (Kay) Mitchell of Beckley and William (Sharon) Whitehead of Statesville, NC; daughter, Carolyn (Tony) Harris of Beckley; granddaughter raised by William and Dorothy, Nolita Whitehead Hairston; seven additional grandchildren, John Barringer, Katrina Dunn, Amorita Barringer, Michael and Ryan Monroe, Travis Ross and Michelle Whitehead; nineteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Blanche Atkins of Charleston, WV, and Willa Mae Washington of Birmingham, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Welcome Baptist Church, 206 8th Street, Beckley, with Rev. David Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
