Barbara Stafford Cline

PINEVILLE — In the early morning, just before the sun rose on a beautiful spring day, Barbara Cline shed her earthly bonds and ascended to heaven.

Barbara Jean Stafford Cline, age 79, of Pineville, WV, passed away April 11, 2013. She was born on November 11, 1933, in Iaeger, WV, the daughter of Okey and Stella Vance Stafford.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 56 years, Paige Cline of Pineville, a sister, Mrs. Thurman (Theodosia) Cline of Gilbert, and a brother, James Stafford of Iaeger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Jack and Bob Stafford.

Barbara attended Concord College and was certified A Medical Record Librarian by Wake Forest University at a time when that designation was rare in the medical field.

Barbara began working at Stevens Clinic Hospital in Welch while still in high school. Her supervisor at the time saw potential in her and convinced her to consider seriously the possibility of learning all about the profession.

The result was a 35-year career at Stevens Clinic, most of which was spent as supervisor of the medical record department. On many occasions she was loaned to other hospitals to help organize or improve their medical records departments.

Barbara’s family would like to thank the caregivers at CAMC, the Beckley ARH and the hands-on staff at The Courtyard at Greystone Village.

Family and Friends may gather to visit with Barbara’s Family Monday, April 15, 2013, evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville. A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the Pineville Presbyterian Church with Dr. Michael Curry and Rev. Michael Knotts officiating.
