Cheryl Jane Alderman

Cheryl Jane Alderman, 53, of Mabscott, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Waller officiating. Burial will follow in the Calfee Cemetery at Mount Tabor. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Betty Jo Cook Bailey

CRANY — Betty Jo Cook Bailey, 64, of Crany, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Lillyhaven Baptist Church, Lynco, with the Rev. Valdis Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Kopperston Community Cemetery, Kopperston. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

John Stanford Bradley

LINDSIDE — John Stanford Bradley, 97, of Lindside, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Wickline Funeral Home of Lindside.

Leon K. Burgess

On Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014, Leon Keith Burgess passed away of a sudden death at his home in Naoma. He was 52 years of age.

Born on New Year’s Day in 1972, at Beckley, he was the son of the late Leon Keith Burgess and Glenna Hurst Burgess Cantley. His stepfather, Albert Cantley, survives.

Leon worked in the coal industry for 12 years as a boss. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, spending time with family, especially his daughters and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are the mother of his children, Stella; his twin daughters, Kiah and Kyerra, and son, Richard and his wife, Melinda; his sisters, Angie, Leona, Susan, Janet and Deloris; brothers, Arthur, Frankie and Kenneth; a host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Scott, Ollie, Shrewsbury and Carl.

Leon will be sadly missed by all of you who loved him, especially his children.

On Saturday, April 26th, at 1 p.m. there will be a “Service of Remembrance” at the Melton Mortuary. Leon will be laid to rest in the family cemetery at Posey Saxon. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour.

The honor of carrying Leon has been given to Richard, Donald, Cody, BJ, David and Jerry.
