Emily Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Barrett

PRINCETON — Emily Elizabeth “Betty” Barrett, 89, of The Havens, New Hope Road, Princeton, departed from this life early Sunday morning, April 13, 2014, at Serenity Place on the Browns Ridge Road, Lerona.

Betty was born September 11, 1924, in Charleston; she was the daughter of the late Clarence Barrett and Harriet Williamson Barrett.

Betty was a member of Captain James Allen Chapter D.A.R. in Beckley. She retired as the Field Director for the Black Diamond Girl Scout Council with more than 40 years of service.

On Monday evening, April 21, 2014, at 5 p.m. we will celebrate the life of Betty Barrett from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors William Pollack and Ed Pettus officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Spring Hills section in Charleston, on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Friends may visit with the family Monday evening from 4 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Sissy Ellis

MULLENS — Sandra Kay “Sissy” Ellis, 59, of Mullens passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014, in a Welch hospital following a long illness.

Born October 18, 1954, at Wyoming General Hospital, Mullens, she was the daughter of Mary Jane Ellis of Mullens and the late Bernard “Blue” Ellis.

Sissy had worked for the Wyoming County DHHR, Wyoming General Hospital, and Bailey Lumber Company. She loved having pets and being outdoors.

In addition to her father she is also preceded in death by a brother, Bo Ellis; and her grandparents, Bud and Viola Goode and John Henry and Ethel Ellis.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Shane Ellis of Mullens; mother, Mary Jane Ellis of Mullens; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Lester of Palatka, FL; a sister, Tammy Ellis of Mullens; and a niece, Monica Ellis of Mullens.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Solid Rock Worship Center, Mullens, with Rev. Mickey Mitchell will be officiating.
