Ralph Phillips Jr.
Our beloved brother, Ralph Phillips Jr., was called home on Feb. 23, 2014. There to usher him in were our Father, Ralph Phillips Sr., and our mother Betty Walton Phillips.
Ralphie was born Sept. 15, 1957. He was raised in Beckley and resided here until the family relocated in 1992 to Winston-Salem, N.C., where he lived out the rest of his life. Ralphie gained employment at Clear Bridge for the maintenance department. He worked there until his health no longer allowed. Ralphie enjoyed watching sports. His favorite teams to follow were Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and WVU. Other than sports, family was Ralphie’s passion. He liked to call and check on family members often.
In addition to our parents, Ralphie was preceded in death by our grandparents, Verblena King (maternal) and Roman and Margret Phillips (paternal).
Left to cherish Ralphie’s memory are siblings, Debra (Greg) Phillips of Winston-Salem, N.C., Michael (Kelly) Phillips of Beckley; aunts and uncles, Amy Law, Alma Webb Lee, Zenobia Flynn, Gloria Walton, Rolena Phillips, Geneva Harvey, Kennith (Shelia) Walton and Randolph (Carol) Phillips, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
We would like to give special thanks to the coworkers at both of Debra’s employers at Baptist and Forsyth Hospitals. Also, we want to thank the Red Cross from Winston-Salem, N.C. Everyone’s generosity and support during our tragedy has been greatly appreciated.
A memorial service in Ralphie’s honor will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Outreach for Christ Christian Center located at 416 G. St., Beckley, WV 25801.
