Junior Lee Blankenship

GILBERT — Junior Lee Blankenship, 54, of Gilbert, died Friday, May 17, 2013.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Mounts Funeral Home, Gilbert, with the Rev. Diamond Carter and the Rev. Lowell Smith officiating. Burial will be in Browning Grimmett Cemetery, Bruno. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. with a special service at 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the funeral home.

Myrtle Cassell

PINEVILLE — Myrtle Cassell, 90, of Pineville passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013.

Roberta ‘Berky’ Cunningham

HENLAWSON — Roberta “Berky” Cunningham, of Henlawson, died Thursday, May 16, 2013.

Denny Collins of the Yuma Church of Christ will conduct a graveside service at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Arrangements will be conducted by the Honaker Funeral Home in Logan.



Eugenia Bailey Dishmon

On Thursday, May 16th, 2013, our most beloved Eugenia Joy Bailey Dishmon of Paradise Hill at Glen Fork passed away at the Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness. She was 55 years of age.

“Genie,” as she was affectionately called, was born Eugenia Joy Bailey on Feb. 25th, 1958. One of three children, her parents were the late Earl Eugene and Edna Jo Privett Bailey.

Eugenia was deeply loved by her family. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Eugenia loved to visit her home in Florida, and spending time with her grandbabies. She enjoyed fishing and tending to her pets in her leisure time.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, James Bruce Dishmon; she was the precious mother of James Patrick Dishmon and Brandy Gene Morgan; the doting grandmother to Desiree Tory Jean Dishmon and Brooklyn Pamela Jade Morgan; the fond sister of Eddie Bailey and Frances Hale; a large extended family survives as well as many friends.

On Tuesday, May 21st, at 3 p.m. we will honor Eugenia with a “Service of Remembrance” at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Erwin Gregory will be officiating. Eugenia will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Until the day breaks and the evening shadows fall, we will remember Eugenia with much love…

Ray Earl Everts

ORLANDO — Ray Earl Everts, 81, of 2927 Rocky Fork Road, Orlando, WV, passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Wheeling Medical Center, following a brief illness.

He was born November 23, 1931, a son of the late Percy and Nellie Moore Everts.

On July 6, 1954, he married the former Lillian M. Evans, who survives.

Also surviving are three children: Cynthia Williams and husband, Gary, of Orlando, Russell Everts of Weston, and Patrick Everts of St. Clairsville, OH; three grandchildren: Amy Williams, and Alex and Sean Everts; and one great-grandson, Joshua Holstein.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ray Everts Jr.

Ray was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. After finishing his tours of duty, he remained a strong supporter of veteran affairs. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved gardening, reading, and word search puzzles. He will be sadly missed by his German Shepherd, Bandit.

Ray’s request for cremation has been honored and the family invites you to attend Ray’s Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Grace Fellowship Church in Orlando, where he will receive full military honors. In lieu of flowers, his family invites you to make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House of Morgantown, a children’s charity dear to the family. ORGAN CAVE — Nancy Louise Hedrick, 79, of Organ Cave, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013.

Brenda Kay Lewis

HINES — Brenda Kay Lewis, 62, of Hines, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at her home following a short battle with cancer.

Born December 6, 1950, at Leslie, she was the daughter of Charles O. (C.O.) Lewis of Hines and the late Mabel Louise Loudermilk Lewis.

Brenda worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Heartland of Rainelle for 16 years. She was a hard worker and a born caregiver. She helped care for her grandmother, her mother and her father. Brenda was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her mother, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother Charles Wayne (Buck) Lewis and an infant baby brother.

Along with her father C.O. Lewis, she is survived by her daughter Constance Louise Reynolds and husband John (J.T.) of Rainelle; her grandson and light of her life, Zachary Charles Ivey of Rainelle; her brother Edward O. (Pete) Lewis and wife Frances Jarvis Lewis of Charmco; 1 niece; 2 nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Steve Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.

JAMAICA, N.Y. — Cordelia Ann Thompson, 59, formerly of Fayetteville, died Sunday, May 12, 2013.

William Howard Underwood

MAPLE FORK — William Howard Underwood, 72, of Maple Fork, WV, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at The University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA.

Born April 21, 1941, at Price Hill, WV, he was the son of the late Carlos and Edna Wilson Underwood.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Britts, and grandmother Pairlee Underwood.

Howard was owner/operator of AAA Garage and Brandon’s Muffler Shop. He was also a member of the Mt. Hope Lions Club and the Beckley Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Touchton Underwood, at home, one daughter, Shari Senea and husband Scott of Live Oak, FL, two grandchildren, Brandon William Crow of Jacksonville, FL, and Mikayla Senea of Live Oak, FL; three brothers, E.G. Underwood and wife Bobbie of Bradley, WV, Ned Underwood and wife Linda of Maple Fork, WV, and Delbert Underwood and wife Debbie of Bradley, WV, three sisters, Jackie Skaggs of Maple Fork, WV, Betty Meadows of Maple Fork, WV, and Liz Evans and husband Lawrence of Brooklyn, OH. Special friends are Joe and Doris Yearego.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV, with Rev. Richard Evans officiating.
