Theodore Jerome ‘Teddy’ Goins
Mr. Theodore Jerome “Teddy” Goins, 68, of Beckley, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
Born April 19, 1945, in Harlem, NY, he was the son of the late Elmer Goins Sr. and Ivory Lavender.
Raised in Stotesbury, Teddy graduated from Mark Twain High School in Macalpine, WV. He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving three tours in Vietnam. He worked at Richmond Dry Cleaners for over 20 years and was a member of Heart of God Ministries and former member of New Salem Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Theodore Lavender, and brother, James Henry Lavender.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Andorra; children: Jackie Price, Haywood Warner and Latisha Goins, all of Maryland; Judith Thomas, Jackie Thomas, Joseph Lawson, James Lawson, Thea Goins and Lawrence Goins, all of Beckley; brother Elmer (Patricia) Goins of Arkansas; sister, Queen (Jimmy) Shepard of Beckley; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 S. Kanawha Street, Beckley, with Bishop Fred T. Simms, Rev. Donald Cook, and Minister Jonathan Harbison officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
