Opal McCoy Brooks

PINEVILLE — Opal McCoy Brooks, 71, of Pineville, passed away, Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

A celebration of Opal’s life will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2013 in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, with Elder Russell McCoy and Elder Bryce Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013.

Roger Lee Clark

After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Roger Lee Clark, age 64, of Cool Ridge, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.

Born February 26, 1949, at Herndon, W.Va., he is preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee and Loretta (Bishop) Clark; paternal grandparents, George and Fulvia Clark; maternal grandparents, Alonzo and Ethel Bishop.

Roger had accepted Christ into his life and was very devoted to his family and  many friends. He graduated from Herndon High School and prior to retirement he was owner and operator of Clark’s Produce in Daniels. He was a member of UMWA and the Moose Lodge.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dorothy Clark; a son, Robert Clark and wife Tiffany of Newport News, Va.; a daughter, Melissa Mounts and husband Anthony of Johnson City, Tenn.; one sister, Elaine Thompson and  husband Calvin of Daniels; brothers, Steven and wife Susie of MacArthur, W.Va. and Terry and family of Craigsville, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Erin and Lilly Clark, Sarah, Timothy and  Isaiah Mounts, Dylan James and  Montana Justice; loving nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles and countless friends.

Special thanks to his loving caregivers:  Jack Clay, Joyce Bolen and Blake Clay.   Also special thanks are given to Hospice of Southern WV.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring Chapel, with Pastor Don Kelly of  the Open Door Church, Shady Spring officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, W.Va.

Friends may visit with the family two  hours prior to service at the funeral home on Friday.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be sent to the Hospice of Southern WV, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV, in memory of Roger Clark.
