While living in Beckley she was employed as a school bus driver for Raleigh County Schools. In 2010 she moved to Clemmons, NC, to be near her children and grandchildren.

One of Debbie’s final requests was to take her kids to Virginia Beach for vacation on the boardwalk, where she became very ill with pneumonia and was in Sentara Virginia Beach Regional Hospital for the last two weeks of her life with her family by her side.

Debbie enjoyed entertaining family, friends and traveling, especially to the beach. She toured many states across the U.S. including her most recent trip in September 2012 where she toured many states out west. The world has lost a special lady and will forever be remembered as a dedicated wife, a caring daughter to her mother, Peggy Joyce Caldwell, a loving mother by her three children Russell Wiley and wife Sarah, Shawn Wiley, and Stacy Bragg all of North Carolina. Debbie truly adored her three grandchildren Brad and Courtney Wiley and Gracelyn Bragg.
