James Dean Perry
SYLVESTER — James Dean Perry, 64, of Sylvester, peacefully left this world on Monday, August 26, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Hubbard Hospice House, after a long and courageous 6-year battle with cancer.
Dean was born on September 23, 1948, in Cabin Creek, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army Sergeant In the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged.
He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Perry Jr.; mother, Kathleen Pack Perry, brother, Robert “Buddy” Perry, sister, Judy Butler and his grandson, James “Jamie” Perry III whom he couldn’t wait to meet.
He is survived by his loving wife, Belva of Sylvester, a son, James “Jimmy” Perry Jr. and Ally of Fairdale, daughters, Lyndsey and Sydney, both of Sylvester, granddaughter, Mandi of Arnett, granddaughter, Toni of Arnett and grandson Kaden of Sylvester; brothers, Jackie “Becky” of Parkersburg and Ricky “Sandy” of Charleston, sisters, Sandy “David” of Cross Lanes, Shara “J.L.” of Dorothy, Donna “Joey” of Ameagle and Vicki of Leevale, sister-in-law, Lois of Charleston, father-in-law, William Skeens, mother-in-law, Linda Skeens both of Seng Creek, brother-in-law, William Skeens Jr. “Linda” of Beckley; 18 nieces and nephews, 30 great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew, the children and grandchildren were his life.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of the doctors involved in Dean’s care, especially Dr. Heather Tarantino. In Dean’s words “If there was ever an angel on earth it was Dr. Tarantino.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the David Lee Cancer Center at Charleston Memorial Hospital. Sgt. James Dean Perry, may God speed to you. You will be missed very much.
Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, with the Revs. Cecil McClellan, Jerry Pauley and Herman Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
