Catherine Charlotte Lester Lane

LINDSIDE — Catherine Charlotte Lester Lane, 96, of Lindside, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013.

Michael Edward Morris

Heaven has received another Angel, Michael Edward Morris, 47, of Daniels, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at Beckley Appalachian Hospital following a short battle with cancer.

Mike was born at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley on September 1, 1965, a son to Sharon P. Morris of Daniels and the late Malcolm Edward Morris.

Mike was an avid sports fan and loved playing baseball. He loved life and never met a stranger. He will be missed by many.

In addition to his mother, those left behind to cherish his memory include his sisters, Debbie Morris McWilliams and companion Perry Payne of Barboursville, Va., Tracy Morris Moore and husband Melvin of Cool Ridge and Phyllis Morris and companion Brian Carroll of Daniels; a special family friend who Mike and the family thought of as a son and brother, John Lynch and wife Renee, and their family of Beckley; special uncle and aunt, chick and Nigel Hughes of Daniels; special nieces, Crystal, Melinda, Amber, Pammy, Loni, and Carly; special nephews, Russell and Tyler; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mike will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Interment will follow at the Beaver Family Cemetery, Beaver.

Pallbearers will be John Lynch, Wayne Hughes, Brian Carroll, Tommy Jordon, Clint Fritz, and Bo Hunter.

Visitation will be held at the same morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.

Maggie Cascio Vargo, 86, of Stanaford, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013.

Clarence ‘Gene’ Winebrenner

LEWISBURG — Clarence (Gene) Winebrenner of Lewisburg, died Thursday, Aug. 15 at the Bower Hospice House Cranberry.

He was born May 28, 1944 at Gauley Bridge, W.Va.

He graduated from Gauley Bridge High School class of 1963 where he ran track and played football. He was a proud U.S. Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.

He married Linda Rhodes on Aug.  8, 1964. Him and his two brothers served their country David (Navy) Gene (Air Force) and Lee (Army).

He worked for the State of West Virginia, Piedmont Air Lines, the Greenbrier and was co-owner of Winebrenner Ceramics for 30 years. He owned supported employment worked with the Fayette Board of Education. He attended Marshall and Concord University. He coached 4-H basketball for 30 years with the Warriors and Hawks.

He loved to hunt and fish and collect antiques and whatever someone would give him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Winston and Elizabeth Winebrenner and brother David; and his wife, Linda Winebrenner on March 1, 2009.

He is survived by a brother Lee of Chicago, Ill.; sons Darren of Neola, Todd of Lewisburg; grandson Korey of Williamsburg; nephews Wayne, Shane and Brian and their families. Friends of the family Dennis, Andy,  Adam, Bruce Humphries and Bruce Elswick.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at the Shuck Memorial Baptist Church in Lewisburg.
