Lena Elizabeth Wire Ford
OAK HILL — Lena Elizabeth Wire Ford, 88, of Oak Hill, W.Va., died on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at CAMC - Memorial Division in Charleston, W.Va.
Born October 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Julius C. and Josephine Sukelly Wire.
She retired as General Manager of Blackburn Ford Sales in Oak Hill with 23 years of service. Lena attended the Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
Sisters, Julia Wire Huffman, Mary Wire Rodes, Alda Wire Keatley, Virginia Wire Napier and Anne Mae Wire, and a brother, Morris Wire, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, H. Leon Ford; nephews, John Martin Rodes, Charles Eric Rodes, William Lee Rodes, Robert Roy Keatley and Robert Shannon Keatley; and nieces, Josephine Elizabeth Patterson and Roberta Anne Petry; several great-nieces and nephews and Ralph D. Ford, Jr., POA.
Also surviving are her dedicated caregivers, Carol Straub, Erica Farley, Teather Daniels, Lora Pittman and Joyce Foster.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Dr. Charles Miller. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Rodes, Charles Rodes, William Rodes, Ralph D. Ford, Jr., Edward Leon Ford, and Brian Ford.

Donald Michael Glessner
Donald Michael Glessner, age 75, of Shady Spring, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, following a long illness.
Born on February 5, 1935, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Michael Glessner and Irene Rudolph Glessner.
Don was retired as an engineer and an experimental mechanic from General Motors Corporation after 32 years of service in Ohio and Michigan. He was of the Catholic faith. Don was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 35 years, Dola Radford Glessner; a daughter, Deborah Glessner Moreck and her husband Michael of Hiram, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Gloria Jean Houk of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Charles Glessner and his wife Charlotte and Clyde Glessner, all of Pennsylvania; three grandsons, Jason Glessner of Ohio, Derek Houk of Florida and Michael Moreck of Ohio; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Radford Lilly of Daniels, and Gail Radford Richmond of Daniels.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Richard and Mary Ann Miser for their kindness and help.
A rite of committal will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, on Monday. March 22, 2010, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mr. Don Wise officiating. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

HARRISBURG, N.C. — Mrs. Agnes Eloise Trent Hays-Swanekamp, 83, of 2108 Moss Creek Drive, Harrisburg, N.C., passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.
A visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 21, at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord, N.C. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, at New Grace Baptist Church Concord, N.C., following a 30-minute state, with the Rev. Allen Montgomery officiating.
A visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Ave., Suitland, Md. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Linda Carol (Hedrick) Ingram
CORINNE — Linda Carol (Hedrick) Ingram, 63, of Corinne, passed away March 18, 2010.
Born December 19, 1946, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Isaiah B. Hedrick and the late Donnie Jones Hedrick.
Linda was a stamp collector, loved folk music, and to travel; she played the dulcimer and was a free style artist; she was a very active member at the Welton Chapel in Allen Junction, where she taught Sunday School, was an active singer, and was a counselor at the church camp. Linda was a Postmaster at numerous Post Offices; she was awarded the Local Postmaster of the Year and was National Postmaster of the Year in 1991, and was once offered a job at the White House as the Postmaster.
Linda loved spending time with her family, friends, and her postal family.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include her husband, James Ingram, Sr., of Corinne; two sons, James “Jimbo” Ingram, Jr., and wife, Geneva, of Itmann and Joseph Ingram and wife, Gina, of Crab Orchard; a brother, Douglas Hedrick and wife, Chris, of Mullens; four grandchildren, Brandon Ingram, Bradley Tyler Ingram, Bradley Chase McKinney all of Itmann and Samantha Jo Ingram of Crab Orchard; nephew and nieces, Robert Hedrick of Kansas City, Missouri, and Beth Hedrick of Stevenson, Honey Michelle (Hedrick) Robbins of Washington and Emily Hedrick of Mullens; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, with David Pollock officiating. Linda will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Dovie Mae Phipps
Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” And so on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, our most loved Dovie Mae Phipps went to her eternal rest after a long illness at her home in Fairdale. She was in her 78th year.
Dovie Mae Tiano was born at Harper on March 22, 1931, the 4th of six children born to the late Frank and Mattie Mae Turner Tiano. A brother, Albert, and sisters, Ethel McClure, Virginia Williams, and Betty Surratt, preceded her in death.
Dovie spent her childhood at Paint Creek. She has been a resident of Fairdale since 1994, coming from Glen Daniel. Dovie enjoyed the outdoors. She loved to camp and fish. In addition to her family, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover “Bub” Phipps; a niece, Wilma Miller; and a nephew, Charles McClure.
Left to cherish her memories is her good friend and companion for the past 18 years, John Combs; she was the fond sister of Norman Tiano of Beckley and a sister Laurie Godbey of Harper Heights; she was the dear aunt to several nieces and nephews; a large extended family also survives.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Cantley officiating. Jerry baptized Dovie at Lake Stephens and she held him in very high esteem. Burial will follow in the Wiseman Cemetery at Sandlick.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
