Carlos Ray Arthur Sr.
FAYETTEVILLE — Carlos Ray Arthur, Sr., age 73, of Fayetteville, WV, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at his residence after a long illness.
Born August 27, 1940, at Prosperity, WV, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Pansy M. Wilson Arthur.
Carlos was a retired school principal retiring from Rosedale Elementary School, was a member of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church, member of the Fayette County Association of Retired School Employees. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles F. Arthur.
Surviving are his wife Yvonne Tatum Arthur of Fayetteville, his son, Carlos Ray “Butch” Arthur, Jr., of Cary, NC, two sisters, Jessie Arthur Tolley and her husband Dave of Charleston, WV, Jo Ann Arthur Kidd Davis and her husband John, of Mount Hope, WV, by a sister-in-law, Freida Arthur, the widow of his deceased brother, Charles.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the Fayetteville United Methodist Church with Rev. Clare Sulgit-Horn officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Robert ‘Bob’ T. Bair
Robert “Bob” T. Bair, 65, of Beckley, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2013.
Born October 11, 1948, in Beckley, he is the son of the late James Woodrow Bair and the late Alice Elizabeth Mayhew Bair.
Bob loved his family and the neighborhood kids. He was a member of the Beckley Regular Baptist Church, where he served as a former Deacon, Treasurer, Youth Leader, and Sunday School Teacher; he served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Vicky Bair; three sons, Brian Bair and wife, Jenny, of Beckley, Aaron Bair and wife, Emily, of Springfield, OH, and Eric Bair and wife, Katherine, of Flushing, MI; six grandchildren, Hallie, Emma, Caleb, Carly, Colby, and Austin; two brothers, James A. Bair and wife, Dorothy, of Fairborn, OH, and William Bair and wife, Britt, of Lake Lure, NC.; and a host of extended family and friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Robert “Bob” T. Bair will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Steven Beverly officiating. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Following the services, Bob will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Brian, Aaron, and Eric Bair, Jim Neil, Rob Rector, and Jimmy Caudill will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Robert Hollis Brooks
JESSE — Robert Hollis Brooks, 95, of Jesse, WV, died on Friday, October 18, 2013.
He was born June 28, 1918, in Matheny, WV, a son of the late Carroll and Zeta Walker Brooks.
He was a member of the Guyandotte Baptist Church. His hobbies included farming and wood working.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Carnice “Dollie” Shrewsbury Brooks; a brother Selmer Brooks; two sisters Bertha Philyaw and Oretha Sowards.
Hollis was a WWII Veteran having served in the Army Air Corps. He was a 1934 graduate of Oceana High School, attained his B.A. in Education from Concord College and his Master’s from West Virginia University. He worked for many years as a teacher, coach and principal for the Wyoming County Board of Education.
Survivors include a son Philip (Joli) Bailey of Washington, WV; two daughters Betty Brooks and Glenna Beatty both of Parkersburg; a sister Tensie (Harold) Tracy of Versailles, KY; a brother James G. “Jamie” (Christine) Brooks of Pineville; four grandchildren Patrick (Susanne) Brooks of Charlotte, Gregory Woolwine, Emily Brooks both of Parkersburg and Hannah (Chris) Bretelle of Misawa, Japan; two great-grandchildren Will and Caroline Brooks; two very special friends Connie and Kertrina Dancy; many nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard. Hollis will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Daniel Lee Toler
KOPPERSTON — Daniel Lee Toler, 62, being met by his son Adam went home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 18, 2013, following a long illness.
Born June 3, 1951, in Guyan, he was the son of the late Robert Franklin Toler and Hazel Morgan Toler.
Daniel was a disabled coal miner, a member of Faith Baptist Church in Matheny, owner and founder of Adam Toler Memorial Funeral Home, Oceana, WV.
Daniel was a very quiet, kind, and gentle man who loved and devoted his life for his family. He loved hearing his granddaughters, when they came for a visit entering the front saying “Papaw, Papaw.”
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his son, Adam Lee Toler; and a niece Rachel Toler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Donna Ellis Toler of Kopperston; his daughter and “daddy’s little girl” Rebekah Cline and her husband Jason of Oceana; two precious granddaughters whom he loved with all his heart, Alivia Marie Powell and Kinsley Grace Cline of Oceana; and a grandson due on October 24, 2013, Keaton Jace Cline; his mother, Hazel Toler of Coal Mountain; three brothers, Pastor Bobby Toler and his wife, Charlene, of Grass Lakes, MI, Pastor John Toler and his wife, Lynn, of Kopperston, and Billy Toler of Coal Mountain; and a sister, Linda Thomas and her husband, Paul, of Coal Mountain; a sister-in-law, Jackie Gore and her husband, Barrington, of Charleston, two brothers-in-law, Dewey Ellis and his wife, Rosa, of Kistler and Greg Ellis and his wife, Alicia, of Pineville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of Daniel’s life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with his brother Pastor Bobby Toler officiating.
Daniel will be laid to rest by his son, Adam, at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
Casketbearers will be Barrington Gore, Buck Short, Keith Osborne, Randall Harvey, Sam Stewart, Leonard Lusk and Rev. Jackie Lusk.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2013, at Adam Toler Memorial Funeral Home.
