VERNER — Lena Mae Ferrell Runyon, 86, of Verner, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Verner Community Church, Verner, with the Rev. Tilly Walls, the Rev. Walter Grimmett, and the Rev. Rodney Robinette. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby Heights, Pecks Mill. Friends may gather with the family beginning at 6 p.m. with a special service at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at the church.

Charlotte Lou Truex Houchins Stone
ANSTED — Charlotte Lou Truex Houchins Stone, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, August 29, 2013, after an extended illness in the Ansted Nursing Center.
Born February 21, 1928, at Trout, she was the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Lula Gladwell Truex.
Charlotte belonged to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. After graduating from Williamsburg High School, she married her first husband, the late Carlis E. Houchins. Charlotte loved to crochet, making beautiful throws, and was known for her beautiful smile.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband John Stone; 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are 3 children Carroll Wayne Houchins and wife Karen of Ripley, Joyce Grose of Summersville and Mellie Fragomene and husband Frank of South Charleston; 2 sisters Ruth Crookshanks of Asbury and Geraldine Brown of Summersville; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, September 2, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Inc., with Pastor Joey Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.
Friends may call one hour before the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
